Has anyone gotten the UCLA regents scholarship? I just found out that they won't tell you if you weren't chosen for the scholarhip. So, I'm wondering if other students have gotten letters on this

I haven't heard anything about the status of my Regents Scholarship either. But considering I got rejected from the school, I have a feeling that I won't be hearing anything at all...

I know. I thought regents meant you were in. "We are very impressed with your academic record..." was how the letter began. I guess they weren't impressed with anything else. lol

You should hear more from the Regents because you were, in fact, admitted to UC Davis. I think you're a coin flip for Berkeley and a pretty good chance at San Diego.

Okay, I called UCLA's scholarship office about the Regents. The rep said they had "a lot" of applicants and that they would be mailing notifications out at the end of this week. The amount of the scholarship, I was told, was the amount listed in the second column of the studetn's eFAN, the item called "Financial Aid Elegibility." This, for our family, means the loan amount would be significantly reduced.

Dontknow: Gosh, I can't figure out why your eFAN isn't showing up at your UCLA site. You do have the log-in password and everything, right? I know that at many schools the financial aid offers come taggling along a week or two after the admissions notice so perhaps yours is being compiled and it's just coming a bit later. Our last name is at the first part of the alphabet, perhaps they do the financial aid packages alphabetically. I bet you could always call them...

Word is that the process holds back about 10 percent of acceptances until they see how many of the first 90 percent choose to come to UCLA. Stretching out the agony but I see the point where they don't want to have a larger freshman class than they can handle if more students than usual choose UCLA.

I got UCLA regents today too.
It's $5500 a year, regardless of need, preferential early enrollment, guaranteed housing 4 years and parking permit. However, your obligations are good grades and attending regents scholars function... whatever that means.
