My mom and a family friend are flying with me to Rhode Island. Brother has to work and my dad isn't involved in my life, finanically too. It's suppose to be an induction ceremony and family and friends are welcome and to say final goodbyes.
Are you bringing people or just going by yourself to college on the first day?

Final goodbyes? Gee, you're taking this whole college thing rather seriously aren't you.. ha.
Most people have their parents or relatives there on the first day. I'll probably have my aunt, who lives near the college that I'm going to, since my parents aren't flying there with me.

My dad is coming with me, to help me unpack, and be there if we need to do any shopping. Many colleges have some sort of activities planned for parents and families and students a few days before classes start. So, I'm not going by myself.

My family is coming with me to help me move in. My college has special activities for parents on that first day, too. I helped a friend move in last year and most kids have their families there.

My parents are not coming, but probably my sister is.

Foreignboy, I'm going into the military! The Naval Academy Prep school, in Rhode Island from Chicago. Leaving July 15 and won't be back until Thanksgiving. Yeah that's a reason to make a big deal about it!
