I can't seem to get applications to work on. Everyone says to get started on them over the summer, but on all of their websites the colleges say that the time to apply for '04 Seniors has passed. How much longer will we have to wait to have them sent to us?

I know for the UC's you could start filling them in around September or so, and couldn't turn them in until October or November. I don't know about other schools, but I think it's pretty much the same. Maybe you could look at someone else's blank application from last year to see how it works. Otherwise... filling them out early on in the fall is still considered early. I didn't turn mine in until 3 days before they were due and I was one of the first of my friends to do so.

You can always work on a long essay (~500 words). The CommonApp, for instance, allows you to write on the topic of your choice. Also, most schools' applications have enough flexibility to accomodate any long essay you may have already written.

The common app comes out in July and the questions for this year are on their site so there will be time over the summer to at least get that part done
