How did you guys do put yours together? I have one of those digital cams with the mini printer, so I was just going to photograph my art and glue them down on the paper with the descriptions. Then I'd put everything in a binder. Is this ok? Or should I take them to Office Max and have them done more professionally? Also, how many pieces should I include, like 15?

Not all the schools I'm applying to require a portfolio, I'm applying for architecture. Would it be smart to send one to these schools too as extra information?

If you've been through this before and could give me some tips, that would be great! Thanks!

slides are usually the way to go. the schools should be able to give you specifics though.

Where would I go to get slides made?

Slides are the way to go. You can take them yourself with a 35mm camera - the AP Studio art information page on the college board site may have some directions on the best way to do this - if you look at the art department web site of many colleges - especially art schools - they also often give advice on how to do this. Or hire a professional photographer to do it (expensive but quality worth it!). Ask art teachers in your school for suggestions on people who might do this for you or if they have any information on how to do it. Also, do a search on the parents board of CC for "art portfolio" - this topic has been discussed in depth in the past six months.

Thanks! I found a few helpful tips in the archives. I think I'll submit a portfolio to all the schools I'm applying to since I won't be applying to that many and I think my portfolio is strong.

Everyone on here seems partial to slides. I checked a couple school's websites (Rice and Cornell) and they said slides or a binder like I mentioned above are both fine. What makes you guys like slides better?

or a cd. I did that for ucla...

CD, hmmm... never thought of that. My teacher used to let me hang around the art studio during studyhall and I played around with the computers a lot, started teaching myself flash. Would it be to my advantage to use something like that and make a nice professional looking presentation of my work? More points for creativity...
