Know any? And if so, what were their SATs and GPA/rank?

By Allison (Allison) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 10:21 pm: Edit

well i go to a top-10 LAC, so maybe it's not exactly what you're looking for, but there are plenty at my school, and i get the impression from my friends at ivies and such that they're everywhere - you can't escape them. a few of the girls i know were top-10 at their schools, but i have no idea about most of them.

You're just propogating a stereotype! Not just girls can be ditzy!

Like, tee hee!

By Taru (Taru) on Wednesday, June 02, 2004 - 11:21 pm: Edit

Thank you, sir! I agree.

I love it....CC kids trying to make themselves feel superior in another ridiculous way...

By Mhawk177 (Mhawk177) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 01:07 am: Edit

At my school it's funny, there are maybe 2 guys in the top 5% and they include me and the valedictorian. Most of the girls included are workhorses, many would be considered ditzes. If you met them, you wouldnt have a clue that they had any academic gifts. When I tell people who beats me in rank they are amazed, but hey, these girls worked hard and earned it.

By Aceofhearts54 (Aceofhearts54) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 02:43 pm: Edit

I have a very work hard play hard attitude. I try to keep school and my social life separated as much as possible. So yeah, I'd probably be considered a ditz, and I'll hopefully be getting into top 25 schools.

By Desrtswimer (Desrtswimer) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 03:47 pm: Edit

Being ditzy has nothing to do with academic inteligence. Just because you are smart doesnt mean you have to ACT smart all the time. what fun is that?

Lots of people i meet are surprised at my ranking in the class (top 1%) and where i am going (northwestern) just because i dont act nerdy and smart all the time and i definately have my blonde moments.

you can be ditzy and have fun and laugh a lot and be smart. its not uncommon.

By Aquaholic (Aquaholic) on Thursday, June 03, 2004 - 08:55 pm: Edit

desrtswimer has got it completely correct
-if you met me on a weekend at a party, you'd probably wonder if I always had that much energy and talked that much :) and you'd note my blonde hair and how I laugh at just about everything around me... but you wouldn't guess my 1530 SAT score or that I'm ranked 6th in the class. At the same time, everyone in my classes knows that I work hard and that I am quite intelligent. (not trying to be cocky, just proving a point)

at the same time, I must say... there are some pretty sketchy girls with high GPAs in my school and I wonder if they actually retain any of the information they use to ace tests or if it's just a temporary thing...

By Argilospsychi (Argilospsychi) on Saturday, June 05, 2004 - 01:26 am: Edit

Those who say there are lots of ditzy people at your school: what school do you go to?

By Savedbythebell7 (Savedbythebell7) on Saturday, June 05, 2004 - 05:03 am: Edit

I've come across girls that act ditzy around me, to like get my attention or something (don't know how that works out, guess its a flirty type thing), but then when i actually get to know them, i find out how smart they actually are.

By Mia (Mia) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 04:36 am: Edit

what BS...ditzy GIRLS
i could name worse adjectives to describe some of the GUYS that get into top 25 schools..I'm assuming OP is a male, or is trying to be funny

By Kurisu (Kurisu) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 07:21 am: Edit

In my high school, the valedictorian was a well-known cheater, and it was also well-known that another guy in the top %5 cheated off of him on everything (can't imagine how that guy got in top five...talking to him was like talking to a brick, with testosterone). I know that's not the nicest thing to say, but it's not as though any of you know who I'm talking about. :P

By Kriskrass (Kriskrass) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 03:53 pm: Edit

the real topic of this thread should be jealous guys whos spot at a top school was taken by a woman

By Aim78 (Aim78) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 04:44 pm: Edit

Nah, girls are much worse than guys in the ditziness arena. Guys can be indifferent, annoying, or arrogant, but we're never ditzy.

By Mia (Mia) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 04:47 pm: Edit

Nice, kriskrass!

By Noodleman (Noodleman) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 05:24 pm: Edit

For guys, see Himbo post.

Lets give aquaholic a round of applause for being so cool. She got a 1530, everyone likes her and she goes to TONS of parties!
[yawn]

Change you attitude at once, or you'll be able to yawn while reading another site. This is the only warning you will receive. We do not tolerate the type of posts you so cherish.
Trinity

By Danqa (Danqa) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 08:13 pm: Edit

Curtis, I think you're being unnecessarily rude. It's obvious that aquaholic wasn't being arrogant or trying to show off. Chill out. Seriously.

By Kriskrass (Kriskrass) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 08:15 pm: Edit

curtisny is rude everywhere he posts

By Mayermatthews (Mayermatthews) on Sunday, June 06, 2004 - 09:22 pm: Edit

Oh come on, it was kinda funny... you know it's questionable when you have to explain why you're cool... lol. I mean personally I think the cool people are the ones who don't try that hard to be, or feel the need to prove it or point it out to others, but whatever.

By Curtisny (Curtisny) on Monday, June 07, 2004 - 04:31 pm: Edit

Maybe you should lighten up a bit, "Trinity"? As Mayermatthews said, any time someone speaks at length about why they are cool they deserve a good ribbing. "not trying to be cocky" was the cherry on top.

my apologies

By Copper45 (Copper45) on Monday, June 07, 2004 - 08:25 pm: Edit

When I wrote this thread I had no idea that the posts would be so nasty.

"the real topic of this thread should be jealous guys whos spot at a top school was taken by a woman"

"I love it....CC kids trying to make themselves feel superior in another ridiculous way... "

You are making this post out to be some gender prejudice thing. I did not mean it that way at all. If you have a problem with the thread, then do not post. Ditzy girls are characterized as being very shallow and superficial, and having little common sense. Guys may not be ditzy, but they can be other things. You cannot deny that there are such girls out there. I was wondering if they were going to any good schools. I hope I don't have to deal with any next year. Furthermore, this post derived from my own experiences, as this one girl I know was accepted to MIT, and she is extremely superficial. I once told someone I liked an Enrique Iglesias song, and she pronounced loudly to the class "Are you gay?". She also makes a dolt of herself in AP Calculus class when she half pays attention and yells out wrong answers. I did not apply to MIT and I am not trying to make myself superior. I was simply wondering. You have a problem, post somewhere else.

By Savedbythebell7 (Savedbythebell7) on Monday, June 07, 2004 - 09:45 pm: Edit

Copper, Enrique rules, i'm a closet fan. I used to go to Enrique concerts with my girlfriend, I acted like I wasn't a big fan, but i'm going to come out today and say, I like some of ENRIQUE IGLESIAS' songs.

lots.....legacies and sports

By Dannyferizzle (Dannyferizzle) on Tuesday, June 08, 2004 - 08:41 pm: Edit

Trinity, you really went overboard on your moderating there--can we say, power trip? Curtisny wasnt even that rude--I love how people were like "Whoa dude, chill out" he wasnt even that mean--You guys are all so pampered.

And Trinity, "you can yawn on some other site"--Dont be so lame man.

By the way, i disagree, I equate intelligence to someone who can speak well and think well, so yah, if you're a ditz i'd say you're not intelligent no matter what college you got into or what your class rank was.

By Dannyferizzle (Dannyferizzle) on Tuesday, June 08, 2004 - 08:41 pm: Edit

double post.

By Jer728 (Jer728) on Wednesday, June 09, 2004 - 10:15 am: Edit

Damnit I want to see what Curtis said. Can anyone give me the gist?

By Dannyferizzle (Dannyferizzle) on Wednesday, June 09, 2004 - 07:37 pm: Edit

Basically he was making fun of aquaholic by saying, you must be so cool and go to so many parties and you also got a 1530!
