To all,
I am a high school sophmore dazed and confused by the offerings of extracurricular activities at my school. The problem that is facing me is whether to choose clubs over sports or sports over clubs.
See, in my situation, if you play a sport (I play football and lacrosse), though the sport is fun, owns you for that season and one can't do anything else. Spurring guilt over not being to compete in a debate tournement and enrich the co-curricular aspects of my life. While if I drop sports and do extracurriculars like newspaper and debate, I feel the guilt of a loss of athleticism.
To make things worse, I realistically ride the bench in sports but have alot of fun. While I show amazing promise in clubs, while I'll have less fun.
Which should I choose in terms of college acceptance down the road?
Advice, thanks

Go for what you enjoy most, James, but if you go with sports be sure to use your off-season and other free time to create some balance in your resume. Riding the bench on a team won't help much from an admissions standpoint, but neither will forcing yourself to participate in something you don't enjoy.
You might reflect a little on your statement that you "show amazing promise" in club ECs but don't find them as much fun as playing second fiddle, so to speak, in sports.
