i'd like to know if anyone has been denied a spot at JSA or Tufts, for their summer schools and programs.
URM, goes to hihgly-competitive prep school (1440 sat avg.),
my info:
1520 SATI (800v, 720m)
NJCL/DCJCL/Latin Club:
***State delegate, state webmaster, active member
Black student assoc.
***active member (most likely vp next year)
JSA chapter head/ co-founder
***start(ed)/(ing) this year
Ad buster club
*** co founder/ vp
Theater
***show earlier this year (an Ideal Husband)
BUT. my grades are terrible. they're ridiculously abysmal. at least i think so.
but the program would have my school's profile, might that help?
these summer things don't look all that diverse, would my urm status help me?
for the JSA, would being a chapter prez help me enough?
for tufts and JSA, are they very competitive? will they just throw away my app?
how much will the essay factor in?
if denied from either of these programs could someone please leave their stats as well. or, if admitted, could you give me your stats if they were comparable to my own.
do you know of any other programs that are good and relative low in cost?
thanks

My son attended JSA at Georgetown last summer, classes in Honors Foreign Policy and Congressional Speakers Bureau. Great program, definitely worth it especially in DC. GTown had lots of activities, able to tour the State Department etc..

JSA puts a lot of weight on the Teacher Recs and the essay more than numbers. I know last year in Gtown, like 380 of 800 applicants were accepted. You should be fine. If I may recommend,The American Presidency class at Georgetown.I heartily endorse it. Brilliant and funny.
Re: The Grades, explain it a bit in your essay, I don't think they'll be too troubled though as long as it's decent

I could be wrong, but I don't recall JSA asking for scores.
