ive tried to make arrangements for alumni interviews but the office at cornell says they are not doing them anymore and i must come to the school for an interview, they dont really seem interested when i call either. they say i can do supplemental essays for the hotel school instead of an interview. if i were to do the essays would this hurt my chances at all?

you were supposed to have requested an interview (esp for the hotel school) a long time ago.
