i dont think your going to davis anymore...
By Xraider5 (Xraider5) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 03:10 am: Edit
mail them IMMEDIATELY and let them know whats going on. you have a better chance if you do that rather than waiting it out.
By Carolyn (Carolyn) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 02:27 pm: Edit
Do contact them IMMEDIATELY. If you need Calculus and Chemistry to fulfill the math and science requirements of the UC system and/or the two F's have made your UC GPA drop below the minimum required (think it's a 3.2 for instate), you're in definite danger of having your admissions revoked with those failing grades. As Xraider says, it's better to find out now what you need to do to avoid problems. Losing that $100 deposit is the least of your worries.

What about 3 c's (weighted) 2nd semester for at a university???
By Roh (Roh) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 05:54 pm: Edit
if you don't notify them, you're screwed.
they will take your spot and give it to me. =D
anyway, you're talking about 2 F's here.
they might let you go if you have 1 D+, but i don't know about this...seems like you're slacking off and not trying hard enough for your senior year.

^ i'm only telling the truth.
someone's got to say it.
IT IS A FACT THAT IF YOU GET BELOW A C, YOUR ADMISSION WILL BE REVOKED.
well, in most cases.
so good luck to you.

BS.
I've gotten two grades my senior year below C's.
I still go to Davis.
Friend got two F's senior year.
Still goes to UCLA.

Again, if the grades are in courses needed to fulfill the a-g UC grades and/or bring your total UC GPA below 3.2, many UC's will - and do - rescind admission unless the courses are made up before enrollment. Best bet is to call UC Davis and ask them for their specific policy as each case is different.
By Roh (Roh) on Tuesday, April 20, 2004 - 03:04 pm: Edit
Tondoqqie: well, the reason you got in is because you notified them (i assume that you did). but it seems like Crazichic98 haven't done that yet, so you still think she could get into UCD?
well, let's see about that.

i called them and was on hold forever, but yeah the guy was super nice, he was like as long as ur doing well now and u need to send a letter in to notify them. And since my classes were academic electives, i seem ok, and he was totally chill, he's like it's a rare practice to revoke...so i have my fingers cross
my friend told me to accept ucsc as well, just to be on the safe side. it would be so cool if i could go to both schools! but i'm not sure if i should do it? thats 200$!

This is not to scare people, but to provide a reality check for those with senioritis. It would be to your benefit to do whatever is necessary to keep your grades up senior year- talking to the teacher, coming in early or staying late and getting the teacher's assistance, asking for extra credit projects, getting tutored, etc, otherwise you really are at risk of having your admission revoked. Revocations do happen at the UCs, so do not become complacent because you may know of instances where the student's admittance was not revoked. I've heard that the situation has gotten so bad with senioritis, that 10% of admittances last year (at all colleges) were revoked due to poor senior grades.
At UCD they do revisit the student's complete acceptance package, and look at the reason for the poor grades, etc. Sometimes they will add conditions, such as require that the course be retaken during summer school.
And, at any college,if SIR percentages are higher than the school wants, guess how they would balance that problem?

careful, i heard someone got an F once and the university didn't find out until the day he moved into the dorms. They sent someone to look for him and told him he lost the admission and had to move out immediately.

i want to know how the HECK you people can let your grades slip SO MUCH! to me, that shows you don't deserve to be at a university. then again, that's just my opinion.

my high school career center counselor has told me before that putting deposits in 2 UCs is illegal...u can put one into a UC and if u're scared of being revoked, u can put one in a PRIVATE only, because they won't really contact each otehr or what not, but you can't put deposits in 2 UCs
By Roh (Roh) on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 - 06:46 pm: Edit
^ yeah, it's illegal to do that.
it wouldn't make sense to send in 2 SIR forms, otherwise, the UC system won't know which campus you're going to attend.

I am confused. I was under the impression that if the class is an a-g class you're toast if it's not a C or better.
But now you guys are saying that if you have all your a-g requirements it is okay, even if that class is an a-g class (like AP Chem or AP Calc)?
