i wish it was ucsd instead of merced ugh it would be just like hs being the first graduating class.

By Tigerstyle (Tigerstyle) on Sunday, April 11, 2004 - 07:53 pm: Edit

is that only if u didn't get into ANY uc?

By Greenmoo04 (Greenmoo04) on Sunday, April 11, 2004 - 07:59 pm: Edit

No, I received a GTO to UC San Diego, a DAP offer (will become a GTO) for UCLA, but a Freshmen at Santa Barbara, Irvine. WOw, Merced? DId you even apply to Merced? CAN you apply to Merced?

Here's what it said:

Welcome and congratulations on your admission via the Guaranteed Transfer Option (GTO). GTO offers you a structured path to UCSD enrollment through the community college, one of the smoothest transfer routes to a UC education. As a student admitted via GTO, you are guaranteed a place on our campus as a junior, provided you complete your lower division coursework at a California community college and honor the provisions of your academic contract. We invite you to learn more about the many exciting academic and educational opportunities available at UCSD.

---Nealyac, I'd give it to you if I could. hehe i don't really want to go to UCSD....

Sorry to hear that, Nealyac. What other options do you have? What are your plans?

By Nealyac (Nealyac) on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 01:31 am: Edit

im going to community college and live at home for 2 yrs and do a TAG to ucsd...or i could go to sdsu, but... i would rather get a degree from ucsd.
ugh now its going to take me 5 yrs to get a b.s. degree

By Greenmoo04 (Greenmoo04) on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 02:07 am: Edit

Wow, why 5 years? Is TAG the guaranteed transfer program? Sounds good...

By Nealyac (Nealyac) on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 02:17 am: Edit

because 2/3 of uc tranfer students finish in 5 yrs. or maybe i'm wrong? idk.
yup tag is the guaranteed transfer program thing and thank God for it!

Well, to my belief, maybe that's because they can't get the right classes because of space, goof around, or not take enough units/per semester, it goes on. It's just that I have a few friends in community college that all tell me: IT'S UP TO YOU. IF YOU'RE FOCUSED AND DEDICATED, YOU CAN FINISH IN 1 1/2 YEARS. IF NOT, 3-4 YEARS. IT'S ALL UP TO YOU, TO PLAN YOUR CLASSES, NOT GOOF OFF, BECAUSE THE ATMOSPHERE'S NOT THERE. Most people I know transfer in 2 years. However, my cousin is still there after a 3rd year...lol hope that helps...I certainly hope that it won't take that long...but I think that with my AP credits, summer school, 15-18 unit semesters, it's possible. Anyway, with the GTO program, they let me stay up to 4 years at community college, and they might pay for it. Try out for Honors programs at community college, so that you get priority registration, the works. GOod luck! Where do you live?

wait....if you got into another uc can you still get the GTO for another uc?

By Greenmoo04 (Greenmoo04) on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 12:54 pm: Edit

Yes.

By Nealyac (Nealyac) on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 07:06 pm: Edit

hey greenmoo, good thing my parents are strict so they won't let me gof around. that's what sucks about community colleges, there are so many slacker kids who don't take it serious 'cause it's just community so they end up failing classes and not finishing. btw, i live in San Diego and am going to Grossmont college. eh at least i'll know about 100 kids who will also go there from my hs.

By Greenmoo04 (Greenmoo04) on Monday, April 12, 2004 - 08:50 pm: Edit

Well then, that's good for us, we'll get higher GPAs, lol.

By Nealyac (Nealyac) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 - 03:07 pm: Edit

By Tigerstyle (Tigerstyle) on Monday, April 19, 2004 - 01:04 am: Edit
