Hi everyone,

I was accepted into Fairfield University & UConn (Both of School of Business) with money, but I'm not sure which to accept?!

I think I would be better off at Fairfield with the awesome location for internships & career placement, but one downside is I would most likely be commuting since I live no more than 10 minutes away, so I would be missing the "college" experience.

I was also accepted to GWU and BU, but there's nothing pulling me to either at this point.

Any insight on FU/UConn Business (Finance) Programs or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone...

Uconn is awesome. Cheaper and better school than Fairfield and you would definatly get the real college experience there. Plus their basketball teams are incredible....

Ahh...money isn't a deciding factor...if that changes anything...

Unless all you want to do is get drunk all week at Uconn, go to Fairfield U. It's a nice little community and a good school where, like you said, you'll get the personal attention (and location) that will help you with internships and career placement. Uconn is a good school generally, but EVERYONE (almost) I know who has gone there has ended up with problems galore from the administration. They say that few people really care about you as a student, and all they want is your money. Half the people I know have been forced to stay there more than 4 years because the requirements to graduate are ridiculous and they are ridiculous about giving them to you. One girl I know spent 4 years with an advisor who was teling her that she was doing fine all her time there, until the first semester of senior year when she said that, oops, you're not doing fine and you'll probably have to (pay thousands more to) stay at UConn for another year.

The basketball teams are good, but as far as I've heard from some students there, UConn cares a lot more about basketball than school--both students and administration. To give you an idea of how the majority of UConn students are, someone I know there had an away message after the game last night that said, "alright Uconn ncaa champs...i contributed by kicking the **** out of a car." Although drinking is a large part of college, most of UConn is juvenile and just likes to drink and party all the time--it's a "party school." You can find your niche among real people there, but just be prepared to be surrounded by a ton of hotheaded jocks.

HOWEVER, like I said, you can find your niche at UConn. There are enough students to go around. And their business program is very good, probably better than that of Fairfield. You can always live on campus your freshman year at FU, though. Why not? Most college students live off campus after freshman year anyway, and that would give you a chance to live at college and get that experience.

I'm from Stratford, btw.

Great insight, I'll be taking everything into consideration.

Any other comments by anyone?

The slc bug is right. I go up there alot to party, and i know for a fact that all they do is drink up there. storrs is in the middle of no where. people really dont show up to class at all. it is being built up academically, but is very overrated because the students never do any work. i was also up there when they won the ncaa championship, and they were beating up cops and tossing cars. i probably wont go up there much after seeing that display. go to fairfield u. i went to the prep school there and used alot of fairfield u. facilities quite often. i like fairfield u. and im sure will too.
