back in january i applied to an out-of-state college that has a rolling (continuous) admissions process and i have yet to hear from them. i have already been accepted to another college but its not my top choice. does anyone know how long colleges with rolling admissions usually wait to send a letter and why they take so long with some applications? whats the chance it will be a reject letter? PLEASE HELP!
my biggest problem is this is my top choice and i cant wait too long or i might lose my seat at the other college. they need to hurry up!
anyone familiar or went through rolling admissions with their college?

I know nothing about rolling, but why not give the college a call or send them an e-mail on Monday? I'm sure tons of kids have the same question, so no worries.

What is the college? If you name the college, some people may be able to give better advice.
I know, for instance, at some colleges it is extremely difficult to gain admission if one applies in Jan. because they fill slots on a first come, first served basis. As the year proceeds, applicants who may be shoo-ins in October are rejected in March because of space limitations.
In your situation, I am wondering whether the college is waiting to hear from accepted students who may be getting offers now from better schools. If enough of those students turn down your first choice, you may have a shot.

well, if its any consolation, they have to get back to you before the may 1st candidate reply date, don't they? so you'll hear SOMETHING by then.
i applied to ithaca and beloit (both rolling). ithaca replied in about a month, i think. beloit took longer, maybe a month and a half - two months, something like that. both notified me before my other colleges (still waiting for some, though), but not by much.
since you applied in january, you should expect SOMETHING soon. it seems like its taken a while, but then again, it may just be the college you applied to. don't worry about it too much- you have your second choice to 'fall back on' if you need it lol
can't you send a deposit to your second school to guarantee you a place, but then not attend if you are accepted by the other one? im sure if you contacted them and told them of your change of mind later, they could still offer your place to someone on their waiting list.
anyways, good luck with the school. try calling/emailing them again. hopefully something will come of it.

SUNY Albany ... well they started taking applications jan 1st-march 1st... i had mine in jan 5th, and the admissions people had put my transcripts in a diff file than my application so they didnt know they had all of my stuff until feb 1st. you think it hurt me that they messed up?
