Hello everyone!
Any advice on making the decision between these to schools!
Greatly appreciated.

Have you visited them both? Their locations are very different, for one thing. Colby seems to have a bit more going for it, but it's really in the wilds of Maine. Both are great schools, so it really depends on what you're looking for.

First of all, I don't know anything about Connecticut College.
I just know that Colby is an absolutely incredible school and has so much to offer its students. The more I learn about Colby, the more excited I am. From COOT before school starts to Colby's Jan Plan, I think the school has really thought out how it can make these the best four years of its students' lives.
Also, Colby made the Wall Street Journal's recent list of top 50 best colleges for getting students into graduate schools, just behind Tufts University. Quite a prestigious list to be on! I don't believe Connecticut College made the list, but of course, that's just one ranking.

Lawyergirl4989, why is that? What is wrong with New London?
Actually, I haven't visited these schools because I'm international. I haven't even been to the US so far.

New London ghetto. There are at least 10 shootings like every day, and there are lots of robberies. I think that it is worse than Harlem.

michael, did you already hear from Connecticut?

Red92, yes I did. Otherwise I wouldn't ask, would I?

I'm not certain where Lawyergirl gets her stats from. One thing I would say is that there appears to be little mixing between town and conn college, so your social life is going to be on-campus.

Jenniferpa,
I did not get my stats from anywhere. I am talking about New London not the campus. The reason I know this about New London is because I used to live there.

According to the federal government, in 2000 there was a total of 1 murder in New London, plus 331 aggravated assaults. Not exactly 10 shootings a day, even if every one of those assaults involved a gun. (Data from fedstats.gov) New London is an economically depressed area so there are going to be areas which you might not be comfortable or even perhaps safe in. However, anywhere in America you're as likely to be involved in an auto accident as have a violent crime happen to you.

Any more thoughts? Maybe, there's someone here who attends one of the schools?

i got accepted to conn. a couple days and i am PSYCHED. my counselor loves it. apparently, of all the schools he visited over the summer (including yale), connecticut college impressed him the most. i dont know much about colby (i did apply to bates, though) but i would definitely NOT shortchange conn. just yet. it also ranked very highly on us news & something something's list.. go camels! ;)

im going to colby next year. i adore the place. it has a much stronger reputation, deservedly so. the only problem some might have with it is location, but i welcome the cold. it has a better campus and nicer facilities, great dorms, the jan plan, and its food is ranked 2nd in the country by usnews. go to colby. i hope to see you there. btw, where are you from?

Hi!
Cold is not a problem, I'm from eastern Europe
)
But it seems now that I won't go to any of these schools. I recently found out that I got into Yale, so...
