i couldn't help but post a second time, i posted once in the yale college cateogory... i'm just very upset Yale was my top choice school, until there admissions office pissed me off.. sooo much... Listen to this.. i sent my app. through common app. online... i didn't recieve a confirmation, so i immideatly thought somethin was wrong. I got on the phone with yale admissions,a nd they said everything was fine and dandy. I called again after i recieved my interveiw information... this time they said that i wouldn't have recieved an interview packet if i hadn't submitted my application. So now, it's the 24th.. OF MARCH.. i get a call telling me that they don't have my application... i was just like.. you've gotta be kidding.. I wanted to SCREAMM.. it was just like.. all these other colleges have a nice site where u can check on the status of your application.. but no, yale has to be differnt, and screw people over. The guy told me that he thought i had lost interested in yale, but then the fact that i went to my interview told him i still might be interested. I wanted to say.. do u realize how many times i've called u people trying to explain... but no... grrr, so they told me to fax my application. I was pretty rude to the admissions guy because i was so pissed off.. i don't think i'm getting in anywayz, so i didn't see a reason to be nice.. To think i wasted money on the damn application fee for nothing!!! it's the 24th.. decisions have been made.. i don't have a chance, anyone else have any good anti-yale/ anti-college admissions stories???

Hi there. I think you should learn to type before you apply to Yale. Thanks.

By Dolleykinsss (Dolleykinsss) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:30 am: Edit

u sound liek the type of stuck up person i would have to deal with at college.. i'm not sure if u know this or not.. but when u're typing online and in a forum especially grammer and spelling are not your primary concern. Sorry i had to break the news to u. good luck trying to remove the stick that's up your behind

By Botheredone (Botheredone) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:34 am: Edit

And to think, Yale didn't accept such a sweet personality such as yours.

By Dolleykinsss (Dolleykinsss) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:35 am: Edit

amazing isn't it?

By Nikelaos (Nikelaos) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:44 am: Edit

haha... Sorry, but I'm with botheredone on this one (I'm a grammar nazi though... :P).

Does it REALLY take that much effort to remember that it's grammar and not grammer, or to type THREE WHOLE LETTERS for "you" rather than "u"?

I agree that the point is more important than how you got it across, but I mean, if you're capable of using grammar and spelling correctly, why do otherwise?

*confused*

By Everet (Everet) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:45 am: Edit

Botheredone some people have different writing styles. If you're not willing to accept that I just don't know how you're going to survive in the real world. Get outof your bubble dude.

By Greskel (Greskel) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:46 am: Edit

Jeez, don't be so defensive. This is an online forum, yes, but as you can see not very many people typ lyk dis here.

And how exactly would we respond to this?

By Everet (Everet) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:47 am: Edit

Greskel

You can respond by saying. DAMN those AD coms.

By Botheredone (Botheredone) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:48 am: Edit

My bubble is suiting me well so far. BTW I'm 19 and two years out of high school, for all intents and purposes, I'm probably closer to the real world than you.

By Dday2004 (Dday2004) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:49 am: Edit

guys, come on, give her a break. i can definitely see where she's coming from. i mean, suppose this happened to you and your top choice? you're not going to be on the "sweetest" terms with anyone. true, she doesn't have to be rude, but no need to rip on her right after she found out that she's basically screwed for her fisrt choice college (by the way, dolleykinsss, maybe you can call them again and see what they say regarding all of this...after you've cooled down obviously). most definitely no need for absurd statements such as "Hi there. I think you should learn to type before you apply to Yale. Thanks." i've seen much worse and besides, i don't think anyone here is interested in submitting any one of the posts they make on this board as a thesis for their english Ph.D. anyway, sorry about that, dolleykinsss, but even if it doesn't work out with Yale, it's not the end of the world. good luck.

Yale is the only college that lost my T recommendation & transcripts out of 8 IVYs + S + 3 LACs and so on. (total 19 schools) I was well aware of the incompetence of the admission staffs there.

Age doesn't signify how much common sense you have. Or the wisdom you have. Just because your older doesn't mean you know the realm world than a younger person. I mean many people have different experiences. For example a kid living with a single parent, or a kid in a gang, Or a kid who is picked on by bullies all the time, or a kid who see their friend paralyzed by someone who shot him.

I don't know. Doubtful, I'd assume. Though my statistics are similar. I however have a lot of work experience/extra cirriculars, also a strong essay and a Philosophy major. Plus I'm an honors student.
We'll both know on the 30th of April

You spelled curriculars as cirriculars. OMG you're going to be screwed. sheesh

By Icansmile4u (Icansmile4u) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:58 am: Edit

Well.. I wonder what kind of decent life Botheredone has out there in so-called "real world!", making some ridiculous comment like "Hi there. I think you should learn to type before you apply to Yale. Thanks," skimming through the posts which aren't even his god damn business at almost 3:00 AM EST.

By Botheredone (Botheredone) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 02:59 am: Edit

Darn my spelling errors. And you're probably right Everet. I suppose it's crap to debate semantics on who is in the real world more.

By U2rules (U2rules) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 04:01 am: Edit

damn some of you guys are sad...spelling mistakes?
get a friggin life morons!

By Ellemenope (Ellemenope) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 04:06 am: Edit

I volunteer once a week in the college center at my Ds high school. Two years ago, I remember that one of the students had her application basically lost by Yale and they didn't let her know about it till the last moment. She was so livid, she could have spit nails! So I know where Dolleykinsss is coming from.

This year, it seems to me that Princeton has the worst organized admission committee.

By Dolleykinsss (Dolleykinsss) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 04:33 am: Edit

Thank you to all those who stood up for how inconsequential my spelling and grammar habits are compared to the actual nature of my post. From now on, I will type in complete sentences, and proof read anything I post so as not to cause more controversy. As for Yale, I guess I will try to call later today.

By Asimplemind (Asimplemind) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 07:31 am: Edit

DolleyKinss, please check your credit card statement which will confirm that Yale received your application at a certain date and time [or your check but if you applied online I assume you used a card]. It would be hard for Yale to deny that they received your application under those circumstances. Good luck [and please ignore the bozos who posted on this thread]

By Pcqo (Pcqo) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 07:35 am: Edit

there are many stupid people in this forum.
Those who check people's grammar mistakes in this forum can't be succcessfull in their lives.
u know why?
Because you are just looking at what you see and see it.
You don't see or want to see anything else except you are interested in.
That's why you will always keep beeing a nerd through all your lives.

And yes. I also have grammar mistakes at my post and I am proud of it.

Any reason why you say that about Princeton besides that late supplying of the application? What else have they done?

By Najy (Najy) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 07:58 am: Edit

SHUT UP WITH THE SPELLING.

nobody cares if someone mispelles a word! get over it. how about this- its fine to be a grammar nazi but no one wants to listen to you, so just keep it to yourself- there, everyones happy

..and lighten up.

but yeah...dolley...that really sucks. I hate these admissions people. they really could care less. reminds me of when i used to work at a certain clothing store (think of a country with the name of a fruit) and when someone wanted 33 x 34 pants, id go in the back, not do anything, and come back saying we were out, even tho i didnt check.

they really dont care at all do they

By Collegeparent (Collegeparent) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 08:34 am: Edit

Nagy, there is a recognizable difference between a misspelling and a typographical error. And as for someone being a grammar Nazi, thank him or her. Speaking for many in the business world, I don't care how smart and educated you are, but your college degree will lose its value if you can't write or spell English correctly. Simply put you'll be considered uneducated by those you're trying to impress. It's a simple fact of life, especially in the business world: know how to write English effectively with correct grammar and syntax or your message, no matter how astute, will be ignored. Nagy, you're the one who needs to get over it. It's not a question of lightening up but of accepting the realities of the world, especially one where knowing the social graces can mean the difference between a promotion or demotion -- and that means manners, behavior, etiquette and writing English correctly.

By Najy (Najy) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 09:41 am: Edit

Well, gee!

Its a shame that this is a thread for high school students.

If only it was an important interview with a CEO!

Theres a difference. lighten up.

I replace "you" with "u" not because I don't know when or how to use the former, but because this is a casual internet forum.

dear god...haha

What did you expect with such an erudite and refined thread title? Hemingway?

The real question: is it "Yale Admissions sucks tush," or "Yale Admissions suck tush?"

"they really could care less" -Nayj

you mean, "they really couldn't care less"?

haha, sorry

By Mzhang23 (Mzhang23) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 10:49 am: Edit

Dollykinss, I'm sorry to hear that happened to you. You should write a letter to the admissions committee highlighting their incompetence with your application. I know I would be rather incoherent and VERY angry if I just discovered a week before admissions notice that my top choice college never received my application, despite their having told me so.

By Noodleman (Noodleman) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 10:50 am: Edit

Evrythingonebad:

Don't you mean "they really couldn't care less?"

"'they really could care less" -Nayj'"

Actually, it's Najy.

sorry, haha

Haha, I'd love to know how you all did on the Writing SAT II. :-)

Dolleykinsss, have you called the admissions office yet? I definitely would not let them get away with this. I'm thinking that since it IS possible to appeal a rejection at a school, they should AT THE VERY LEAST treat your case like they would an appeal, and evaluate your application. Especially if you did pay the application fee. As Asimplemind said, check your credit card statement. That is, if you'd still be willing to go there after this whole experience. Good luck with everything!!!

By Nsmith1 (Nsmith1) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 01:20 pm: Edit

I'd like to butt into this thread with some advice based on real world experience....a few years ago, my best friend had the exact same thing happen with another large school (not Yale). Friend called Admissions and took exact opposite approach of some of those being suggested. Rather than acting furious and demanding (which is totally understandable under the circumstances), friend very calmly indicated that a mixup seemed to have occurred, stated that her check had cleared on x date, and she wanted to know whether she might speak to the Director of Admissions to see whether it could be easily rectified. After a very lengthy conversation with the D. of Admissions, not only was she admitted to the school within days, but received a 1/2 tuition scholarship, presumably having to do with what had happened. So, before you call them, bear in mind that how you conduct your conversation might very well affect whether you are admitted or not. If you launch an attack, they will immediately go on the defensive and you have an uphill battle on your hands.

OMGOMG!!! that happened to me and wellesley...it was my #1 choice school too!!!~
I WAS DEPRESSED FOR A WHOLE WEEK......

"Evrythingonebad:

Don't you mean "they really couldn't care less?"

(Quotes go outside of punctuation, o' aleck of smartness.)"

No, they don't. I was quoting you. Your quote was without the "?". I had added that to my statement. Sorry, try again.

By the way, sorry for the misspelled name, Najy.
