Does anyone know why UCSC is taking so long for some students? It feels like I've been waiting forever, and some people recieved their admissions on March 1st! If anyone did get in, did they update your website or send you an acceptance letter?

By Uclaalum8 (Uclaalum8) on Friday, March 19, 2004 - 06:50 pm: Edit

My D was accepted, and it showed up on the website (3/5) and in the regular mailbox(a week later). Not sure why they are taking so long for others. You might want to call the admissions office and ask when they will be sending out more notifications. Best of luck!

Uclaalum8: which website to check status?

By Uclaalum8 (Uclaalum8) on Friday, March 19, 2004 - 07:10 pm: Edit

I think UCSC mailed a login id and pw. You will see a link to the my.ucsc.edu site if you go to the following:

Yeah I am still waiting for UCSC as well. Its really annoying. I've always thought that UCSC was a school I could definitely get into. Now I'm not so sure. With all the budget cuts this year, and so many students not getting accepted when they are qualified for admission. I'm getting a bit paranoid.

yup, still waiting for ucsc.
don't worry guys, a LOT of people still haven't received acceptance letters to ucsc yet.
same with uci.

Oh thank goodness, I thought my sister was the only one. She heard from almost every school she applied to, except one private and UCSC. Got into most, but I know a lot of kids who didn't get into a lot of "safety" schools.

hey i didn't get into UCSC on march 1st either, but two days ago i received an acceptance packet in the mail. You'll probably get one soon. And my scores were above average for everything, so getting a late acceptance doesn't mean anything. Good luck!

By Clashkev (Clashkev) on Saturday, March 20, 2004 - 11:31 pm: Edit

Just out of curiosity, otterpop, what were your scores?

Sat I: 1200
560/570/670 (History, math, writing)
GPA: 3.2
Mostly sport related EC's. I actually had a really good essay too.

Hmm, mine are definately a bit low for UCLA (LOL), but I was told UCSC was pretty easy to get into. I hope I don't get cut out as part of that 10% budget cut.

my numbers were...
GPA: 3.9 (weighted)
SAT I: 1440
SAT II: 690, 700, 740
EC's were okay.

Good luck!

bump

By 111 (111) on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 10:03 pm: Edit

i've been wondering for some time now.....what is the purpose of using the word "bump".....what is it suppose to evoke?

sry...that's just me being weird :/

By Clashkev (Clashkev) on Tuesday, March 23, 2004 - 11:24 pm: Edit

Hmmm, maybe I should just put a "." or something. Now that I think about it, if bumping is the purpose of the post, then why does it have to say bump. Certainly, the idea of bumping is a secondary function to the actual bumping. The communication of bump is not at all the intended purpose of the post, so typing out the actual letters is a waste of time.

Alright, from now on, its just a ".".

.....ok seinfeld.....heh

By Roxychick776 (Roxychick776) on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 - 08:08 pm: Edit

If you are still waiting for UCSC, what does it say on your status site? To access the site of whether you got in or not, you have to go to another site once you log in (you can find it on the left hand side). I know that when I got in, it still said "processing" on the main status site, so I thought I hadn't gotten in until a couple of days later when I noticed that you had to click on something else to find out if you got in or not.

By Strwbysmoothie (Strwbysmoothie) on Wednesday, March 24, 2004 - 11:57 pm: Edit

I've been clicking on "Application Status" and it says:

Your admission decision is still pending. Notification of admission begins March 1 and concludes March 31. Decision letters are sent to your current mailing address.

Does anyone else still have this?

By Clashkev (Clashkev) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 01:20 am: Edit

Yeah, I have that exact same message.

Lol, well I might as well try my hand at comedy. At this rate I'm not getting into college.

clashkev- "clash" a refrence to the band "The Clash"?....like my fav. band, Joe Strummer was God.......Im in @ SC anyone else?

By Clashkev (Clashkev) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 - 07:55 pm: Edit

Yeah, the "Clash" does refer to the Clash. Awesome band.

I see your 22, which means you probably got in as a transfer student. Hmmm, maybe I'll just e-mail Santa Cruz and get a little insight into their application process.

By Jbe (Jbe) on Saturday, March 27, 2004 - 11:56 pm: Edit

I hear Uc's send there notification in waves, 1/3 @ a time, in no particular order. Its too difficult to send every one @ once i guess. Dont worry about Santa Cruz, I just received mine on 3/1 because I was in the 1st wave.
( correct me if Im wrong)

By Strwbysmoothie (Strwbysmoothie) on Sunday, March 28, 2004 - 06:00 pm: Edit

Is that really true about the UC's sending out notifications in "waves." I think with UCLA and UCSD they let everyone know on the same day. Yes, I'm still waiting to hear from Santa Cruz either way.
