Does anyone know approximate gpa necessary to transfer from an average community college to a UC? What else do they look at?

I think it depends on which UC. Many CA CC's offer direct admission to some UC's through the Honor's Transfer Program.

Get a 3.5, some volunteer work, clubs, and an honor transfer program going and you will have a shot at all UC's.

For berkeley, you might try for a 3.6+

You can *not* transfer from College Confidential to a UC. You have to actually *go* to a school first and then-- What? Oh. Never mind. I mis-read the title of the thread.
