I received a letter from UCI today lettng me know that they have received my fafsa application and have completed the initial evaluation of it, and that if I need to make changes I should do so on the fafsa site. Thing is I haven't gotten anything in the mail/e-mail from them saying "congratulations." Why would they send this notification to me if I didn't get in or they hadn't made their decision about me yet? Has anyone else got this letter?

I wouldn't read anything into it. The FinAid folks have a separate drill to follow and they want to make sure your file is complete/accurate regardless of what your admissions status is; there are so many apps, the FinAid office isn't going to synch themselves with Admissions.
