I see many people have gotten "likely letters" from their colleges. What do the usually say? I'd feel so excited if I got one. One of my colleges sent me some information packet on their school multicultural newspaper, asking me to send in poems I've written or something. I thought that was pretty strange.

A very strong likely letter might say something like:
"Congratulations! We have reviewed your application and we are pleased to inform you that you are ranked in the top group of students very likely to be admitted when the final decisions come out in March. Please plan to attend our New Admits weekend on April blah blah."

That is basically what Wellesley's likely letter said.
