Is the UC regents scholarship based on academic qualification + financial need, or simply academic qualification? I hope i spelled regents right..

From what I know (which is relatively little, as I don't qualify for it), it is based on academic and extracurricular qualifications alone. However, the amount of the financial award can often be increased in the case of extreme financial need.

isn't the award itself a full scholarship?

Each campus handles the regents a little differently. Berkeley gives a token amount ($1000) based on merit, but guarantees to meet full financial need for those who have it. UCLA gives the same guarantee but also gives $5500 a year just based on merit. I don't know what the other campuses do.

My son received a Regents at UCR. It is full tuition as an honorarium, and more if there is financial need. But he doesn't want to go there.

ya i got the regents at ucr, but only chancellor's at uci. watch. as the schools get more presitgious...it'll get even lower, until i get a rejection letter. now to hope that that rejection letter doesn't come from berkeley

I got chancellors at UCI but am still holding out for just plain admittance from UCLA and UC Berkeley. That would make me far happier although i am a fan of free money. Ill just have to wait and see.

I'm kind of sad that I didn't get any scholarships from UCI. How do they determine it anyways? My stats are a little bit higher than yours, Yackityack. I have:
sat1: 1390
sat2: 660 710 740
not sure, but it should be a 4.3 something UC GPA
9 AP classes in HS (4 senior year as well)
AP Eng/Lang- 4, AP Stats- 4, AP Art History- 5, AP European History- 5
ELC
Is that weird?

Yeah thats pretty wierd. I applied for political science in the school of social sciences. which school did you apply for? Other than that i dont know. maybe they liked my essays? You seem like youre more qualified than me though.
