I turned in my FAFSA for a certain school and wanted to check my status and the site said i couldn't check my status unless i had a pin number which they said would be given upon admission to students. Well i got deferred from the school but decided to look up my PIN for the heck of it..to see if it was there and it was..do all people who applied to a school have PINS

Umm, anyone can get a pin. Pin's are used to verify or provide signatures for the Financial Aid form.

Columbia (deferred ED) - have a PIN
Yale - have a PIN, but only to check decision
Brown - have a PIN
Cornell - have a PIN
NYU - no PIN, no online checking system
Vassar - no PIN, no online checking system
SUNY Binghamton - have PIN
