Congratulations, you have been admitted to UCR! If you haven't already received your admit packet by mail, you should be receiving it soon.
The next step is to return, via mail or in person, the Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) and the required deposit. Check back here beginning March 8 to electronically fill out and print your SIR form. To enroll for Fall 2004, your SIR must be postmarked by May 1, 2004, if you are a freshman.
General Provisions of Admission - Your admission to UCR is provisional based on the information you reported in your application for admission. The General Provisions of Admission are printed in the Steps to Enrollment brochure included in your Admit Packet, and can be found in the Steps to UCR section of this site. Read this information carefully to insure that you will meet these provisions before submitting your Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) form.
Additional Provisions of Admission (APAs) - You do not have any additional provisions of admission.

Carolyn--
As far as graduate school admission is concerned, does going to a less prestigious university hurt an applicant? For instance, Riverside versus Berkeley?
| By Carolyn (Carolyn) on Monday, March 01, 2004 - 04:42 pm: Edit |
Actually, UCB takes quite a few UCR grad applicants. : )
This is a difficult question to answer because different types of grad programs (i.e., med school vs. getting an MFA) are going to look at different things. However, for most graduate programs the important thing is to get a solid undergraduate education, develop relationships with professors who can mentor you in the grad school admissions process (and recommend you on a personal basis), and do well on entrance exams. You can do all of those things at a less prestigious school as long as it's an academically strong school and you make a concerted effort to get a good education. Remember: you can get a bad education at a top school too if you don't put in any effort.

Best time of my life in many ways. Have fun everyone!

Meehmemee - Try not to take it too hard. I remember being rejected from my first choice college many, many years ago. I felt so totally useless at the time but everything ended up just fine in the end...and it will for you too. Just remember: life takes many twists and turns along the way - but you end up where you're supposed to be eventually.

Thank you for your application to the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Our campus received thousands of applications for the upcoming Fall quarter. We carefully reviewed each application using a combination of academic and supplemental criteria. Although all applicants were talented and able students, we could not consider those who did not meet all of the stated academic and examination requirements and/or printed deadlines. Consequently, based on a review of your application, we regret that we cannot admit you for the Fall quarter.
You have made an excellent decision to continue your education. We appreciate your interest in UCR and encourage you to establish your future eligibility to the University. We look forward to receiving an application from you at that time.
---------
does it mean I did not meet the application requirement or just a general rejection mail?
| By Nmoreno1 (Nmoreno1) on Monday, March 01, 2004 - 10:40 pm: Edit |
Wow Pkev, it seems like they're really pushing the eligibility of your application. You should call and ask because a normal rejection letter usually only states "we're sorry, but we received many talented...balhblabhlabhlabh...but unfortunately we just don't have room to admit all the applicants..."
