I just want to know if anyone has recieved any information regarding scholarships at UMCP? When does Maryland inform students about their scholarship status, and schedule interviews etc? I also have an important question about eligibility. Are international students even considered for scholarships at UMCP?

D received info on merit scholarship interviws on Sat. Interview is mid march. But we are in MD. Would think International would take longer. Don't know if internationals can qualify or not.

D and friend both got letters. 1550ish I think and 1600 SATs, top 5% I would guess (not ranked). Very hard course loads but not unreasonable numbers of APs. Nice but not incredible ECs

D. got into honors at UMDCP ..had very hard course load..very high GPA but SAT lower.
She just got offered $20,000 to another school so wondered what MD wanted.

Don't know. She needs to investigate both Gemstone and Honors. Told her she needs to make sure she likes Honors because not everyone completes Gemstone. Where did D get $20K from? Only a couple of Ds schools give merit, most are much more expensive than MD. Kind of weird to be looking at likely $45k year or potentially nothing and not much in between.

I heard gemstone was a lot of work..D. got in honors but not gemstone. It was from Towson a safety school. Where else did your D. apply?
We are also looking at UNC and William and Mary.
Found out that MD will be sending out scholarship awards this month..(and many honors kids will get one) so have fingers crossed
Your D. is probably up for one of the bigger scholarships.
