Will 11 AP's for Harvard be enough?

no - they want minimum 24

You ask this question as if there is a clear-cut, objective minimum for how many AP courses one must take. But that's not the case. Harvard asks for many things, including high grades in tough classes, but they also want to see involvement outside of the classroom. If you spend your life on academics, chances are Harvard won't accept you. Take what interests you, but make sure to get heavily involved in other activities....and just for anecdotal evidence's sake, my friend got into Harvard with 7 APs over the course of 2 years.

Also, they want to see that you have made the most of the resources available to you. They're not going to fault someone for not taking 20 AP's when their school only offers 5.

It's also good if you get 5's on the AP classes you take... it's better to have 4 5's than 10 3's.

Everyone that I know who was accepted to Harvard (excluding legacies, athletes) had 7 or 8 AP's plus college courses. My school only has 8 AP's though - so that's all of em. If you can pull 11, with great AP scores and everything else is good (grades, ECs, recs, essays, etc.) you will be in the running. Caveat: there are many people with 11 AP's who will be rejected from Harvard this year, and every year.

Um... my school as ABSOLUTELY NO AP CLASSES and I know a lot of people who were accepted (and are now attending) Harvard. So.. I definitely agree with Candi.

You do know that once at Harvard, only 5s count.

I actually heard that AP credits can only help you achieve sophomore standing or placement and that if those aren't options for you, you'll be taking the same courses over again regardless of scoring high on AP tests.

Melodious - why doesn't your school have any AP classes? Are they called something else but are still at that level? Do kids at your school take AP exams anyway by independent study?
That seems unusual to me so I am curious.
