what are the reasons?
By Jennyzsong (Jennyzsong) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 12:10 am: Edit
it has an amazing program that makes me drool when reading about it. it's suburban. it's small. yay.

I want to be a writer and it has the best English program in the country.
By Crnchycereal (Crnchycereal) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 12:36 am: Edit
Residential college system and history department do it for me. Plus, I've heard it has a much better overall student attitude/atmosphere than say...its rival.
By Mnm (Mnm) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 12:40 am: Edit
um, can we include the school?
By Crnchycereal (Crnchycereal) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 12:49 am: Edit
Why, that would be Yale, of course. And if there is a God, I just may be going there next year even having been deferred.

'Cause it's nearby.

I want to learn as much as I can, and make decent money. So both education and prestige are important.
By Foreignboy (Foreignboy) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 01:31 am: Edit
I am a prestige whore.
By Stargazrlilychk (Stargazrlilychk) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 01:36 am: Edit
haha foreignboy, aren't we all.
Cornell is the only school in the country that has my major

[University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill]
1) Illogical sentimental attatchment to UNC and the state of North Carolina as a whole (it's the longest I've lived somewhere: three years).
2) Baby blue is a kickass color for a school.
3) It has a great Journalism program, it's paper is ranked number one by the Princeton Review. But aside from that, I fell in love with it's journalism--or atleast what I was exposed to--after going to their journalism institutes and learning about design.
4) My dad told me I'm either going to UNC or Mizzou. I guess Mizzou is a great school but there's really something about the Midwest and my crazyass, enourmous extended family that rubs me the wrong way.
5) Melvin Scott is really hot.
6) There's no way in hell I'm getting in, and this makes me like it even more.
By Candi1657 (Candi1657) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 02:25 pm: Edit
...because it is kick ass for pre-med
...actually has a distinct neuroscience major
...lots of variety in the biological science majors
...is in the middle of a "real" city (not a small town masquerading as one)
...is full of brainy, quirky individuals

By Fiza (Fiza) on Sunday, February 08, 2004 - 06:58 pm: Edit
Well my top choice school (still to be determined) will either make it very affordable to attend since I will be footing the bill, OR be an Ivy (cause those are serious longshots and if i get in my parents are gonna pay).

I want to go to NYU, because:
I'm not into sports, NYU's sports program is almost non existant.
I hear it's a dark and sarcastic school for people interested in the arts.
I love NYC.
I'm not interested in the "traditional" college experience.
They have the 2nd best film program in the nation.
Losts of internship opportunities.
My aunt teaches there, so I'd contine the family tradition.

Cuz...
I'm into being on a nice aesthetically pleasing campus within a big city.
I want to intern or do work in government or afar.
Bulldogs are cute.
Chicken Madness does not describe a bird insanity complex.
There's family nearby.
I want to be intellectually challenged.
Preppies don't bother me. (too much)
Blue and gray are happy-go-lucky colors.
and most of all....
Cuz i have their bumper sticker!!!

Military: yuck yuck yuck.
I admire people who go in but never in a million years could there be enough in this world to make me join. Non wartime.

Because there's America's second biggest library, a giant bookstore practically across the street, and if I want to visit mom and dad, a small amount of cash and good planning will take me to a train station ten minutes from my house.
By Constellation35 (Constellation35) on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 09:47 pm: Edit
I got a full ride (don't have to pay tuition or room & board) to University of Florida. Plus, University of Florida is considered a Tier 1 school and it has good research opportunities.
By F3arxn03vil (F3arxn03vil) on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 10:13 pm: Edit
1) It's 5 hours away and I'm getting away from everyone
2) Great start for my future career
3) Great location, good size city
4) Will give me a challenge, but I'll also be able to relax
5) A hella big scholarship!

By Usna_Reject (Usna_Reject) on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 11:34 pm: Edit
Musefinity, you don't like the military and don't lie that you "admire" people that go in, so just keep your "yuckie" comments to yourself. I've worked so hard for this and I didn't need to hear that. Thank you.
By Iflyjets (Iflyjets) on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 11:47 pm: Edit
Glad to see your enthusiasm, Usna. Good luck.
By Iflyjets (Iflyjets) on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 11:49 pm: Edit
Constellation, sounds as if you have finally grown accustomed to becoming a "gator." Any word from any other schools?
By Winterfresh (Winterfresh) on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 - 11:49 am: Edit
1) It's a hidden gem.
2) It's a diverse, residential campus.
3) Has an awesome Communications department.
4) Has great school spirit.
5) Gives great financial aid (ranked fourth on Princetown Review).
