Hey...
I've applied to a broad range of schools (from Harvard to Ohio Wesleyan). I was wondering how much my SATII scores will affect my chances of getting admitted? Also I am an international student so I'm hoping they will take that into consideration.

Here are my SATII scores:

Writing: 620
Lit.: 540
Math IC: 540
French: 460

My SATI: V 670 M 730

My EC's are pretty good, my GPA is 3.8
I'm 8th place out of 181 students.

For example, for Harvard, do you think the admissions will be affected by my SATII's? Or for any school for that matter?

Thanx! =)

My dad is a diplomat so I stayed in the States for a few years, I guess my English improved. But other then that, I did work hard for the Verbal score (memorizing words, reading many books, verbal techniques) and the Lit. score is due to reading books I guess...But I still think the Lit. score is pretty low. Whats your take on it? How will this affect my chance for admissions? TIA!

Like Abc, I think the discrepancy between your SAT I and SAT II scores is disturbing. Especially with a 730 on SAT I math and the Math IC score of 540.

For Harvard and even schools with much less competitiveness, your SAT II scores leave much to be desired.

I'm assuming that you can't retake them, right?

I got identical verbal and writing scores. i'm kind of opposite of you... did better on SAT IIs than SAT Is for the most part... even though i still didnt do that well on IIs...
680/630 Is
700/690/680/670/640 IIs
but oh well. still applied to harvard

Of course, SAT I is the more important test, and adcom's (except of course the UC system) don't usually put much stock in your SAT II's unless there is a huge discrepancy.

And for the other poster, strong SAT II scores, however can help somewhat offset less than stellar SAT I's.

Candi, I disagree. I think these days, SAT II scores may play a very large role, perhaps as great as SAT I's (they DO test specific knowledge, after all). That said, I think the scores will hurt the OP significantly for Harvard and other top schools. International applicants to such schools typically have stellar academic records in addition to everything else. For lower tier schools, however, it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

I got a 640 in verbal and a 790 in math(SAT1). In my SAT2s i got a 790 in writing, a 750 in Math 1C and a 660 in Math 2C. Will my 2C score reduce my chances of gettin in 2 places like Cornell, Dartmouth or Georgetown?
