The Cambridge College Programme LLC at University of Cambridge....
I recently received a letter of invitation to apply to the Cambridge summer program(me):-) ... here are a few questions I had...
Has anyone heard of this?
Is it only for Americans? (the letter hinted @ it; also: there is an American Director's office mentioned)
I would love to go for the class covering Tibet (I'm highly involved with Students for a Free Tibet), but is this program with it?
Is it taught by actual Cambridge faculty?
Would Penn allow me to attend? (accepted ED--Penn mentioned that I couldn't enroll in any other university; however this letter says that some have received college credit--and it's only a summer program anyways).
Has anyone been to this program?
Tell me what you think. And, how they hell did they get my address? LOL
Thanks

I've heard of it. I requested a program. (I'm surprised it doesn't have any website). Anyway, from what I read it is the only program for Cambridge taught by all Cam faculty. I don't think it's binding-- it's a summer program so of course Penn would let you attend.
I have a feeling they had a list of people-- and maybe someone recommended you or something.

Last year's valedictorian at my high school also received the same invitation. She went for the summer and really enjoyed it. (She's now a freshman at Yale.)

I think it could make for a cool summer... although I'm sure the student environment during the summer is probably not the same as during normal terms (i.e. student run activities ect.) it sounds like a great oportunity to check out what is considered by many to be the world's most "elite" university.

I was also invited, and I am considering attending. Does anyone know how Cambridge decides who to invite? Are the courses taught by faculty or grad students? Will the program help you get in to Cambridge? Also, if you do the Cambridge summer program one year and the Oxford another, will either accept you for college?

I received information regarding the program, as have a bunch of my friends. As it arrived at about the same time as a flurry of mail from colleges, it might be connected to a pre-ACT test we took at the beginning of the year.
I don't think it'll help you get into Cambridge. It's not officially even by the school, to my knowledge. That isn't to say it's bad; it sounds pretty cool. However, Google tells me that Cambridge has official programs for people over 18, but not for minors...
