Is this generally a bad idea? I wrote my optional essay about your "passions and talents" on becoming obsessed with PageMaker. Should I send in something I've made on PageMaker like a play bill or poster?

I could send in the high school newspaper but that seems non-unique since I already told them about my paper in ECs and awards...

Will this just irritate them?

I would recommend calling/e-mailing the admissions officer for you area (if you have a specific one)/or any admissions officer and ask what exactly would be appropriate to supplement your application with. You'll get the exact answer to your question, and you'll also be showing genuine interest in the school (some schools even keep track of how many times you contact them).
Good luck and best wishes!
