Still waiting

By Xdtish (Xdtish) on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 06:12 pm: Edit
3 schools?!?! Did you get into a school through EA? If no, then I'm scared for ya!
PS
You're not supposed to hear anything until around April usually. Unless you're applying yo State schools. Good Luck!
By Candi1657 (Candi1657) on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 06:17 pm: Edit
What three did you apply to???
By Usna_Reject (Usna_Reject) on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 06:21 pm: Edit
nope
Lewis Univeristy I'm sure to get in, small Catholic college 5 minutes away. I already earned credits from there.
UIUC, I wasn't so concerned til now that I realized it was popular to a lot of people. It's about 2-3 hours away. I signed up for engineering so it's very competitive.
Naval Academy, I know for sure I'm not getting in, but those who don't get in are automatically considered for their preperatory school in Rhode Island. That's what I'm hoping for.
I would apply to more schools but no application $$$
By Xdtish (Xdtish) on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 06:24 pm: Edit
Wow, I'm sorry about your $$$ situation. I hope nothing will go wrong in April. College admissions these days are very tricky.
Good Luck!

have you looked at various websites that provide for no application fees if done over the web. some are still available and cut off is 3/1 usually
By Usna_Reject (Usna_Reject) on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 - 06:57 pm: Edit
Thanks, I have looked, not hard though. Plus I'm limited to what schools I can apply to, as in cost and location.
Does anybody know about Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia? That would be my final place to apply to but I don't know much about it, other than it's a historically black college. I'm interested in a scholarship there.

Usna,
Many schools will grant fee waivers for apps, too. You might want to check with your guidance counselor about this. All they need to do is write a letter on your behalf.
By Usna_Reject (Usna_Reject) on Thursday, January 15, 2004 - 11:42 pm: Edit
I'm done.
Just those three.
I'll get in.
Everybody wants me.
poetness, yeah

I'm not in anywhere yet... Stupid 3 months until April...
By Winterfresh (Winterfresh) on Friday, January 16, 2004 - 07:12 am: Edit
I haven't heard anywhere yet either. Hopefully, I'll be hearing from one college at least in a week.
By Krpatel (Krpatel) on Friday, January 16, 2004 - 08:20 am: Edit
21, thats nothing, i applied to 31, but it wasnt that bad because i began the process in october, i have been accepted to 7 or 8. btw, if u really want to apply to more, there are some schools that give huge money. For example, i appied to TCNJ and they give anyone with above 1500 SAT's and i think a 3% class rank full tuition, room and board, and some sort of research opportunities like a stipend or something like that.

Spellman is an excellent school --- and if you're interested in historically black schools, you might also consider Howard. Both schools are good with financial aid.
By Usna_Reject (Usna_Reject) on Friday, January 16, 2004 - 03:25 pm: Edit
^^^ thank you so much
It will be a totally new experience going to a mostly black school.

By Musicmom (Musicmom) on Saturday, January 17, 2004 - 10:04 am: Edit
TCNJ= The College of New Jersey.
Great school that no one knows about.

I know most colleges say that they'll notify you if you've been accepted usually around April 1st, but when do students usually find out of their status? In February, March?
I applied to UNH, Brandeis, WPI, Providence, and Holy cross...anyone know when they sent out their letters?
By Usna_Reject (Usna_Reject) on Friday, January 23, 2004 - 11:33 pm: Edit
well my acceptance worries are over now, joy
One college I applied to won't tell until April. I'm not applying to Spelman College (and I put a lot of effort in the essay and for a scholarship there, errr!)
By Hill (Hill) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 02:05 am: Edit
I've been accepted to 2, rejected from 1 and waiting to hear from 7....I hope April comes soon!
By Sweetie49 (Sweetie49) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 09:42 am: Edit
I'm still waiting. My friend applied to the same (state) school as me, only 2 weeks later, and she's already gotten accepted. I'm bitter about that..lol
By Xdtish (Xdtish) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 10:24 am: Edit
I applied to 10, including 2 State school (Safties) I already got in 2 schools, one with full presidential scholarship :-). So I guess it really depends on the schools you apply to. I personally think their deadlines vary.
Just my 2-cents.
By T2opine (T2opine) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 01:49 pm: Edit
Applied to 6, got accepted into 5, and still waiting to hear from one.
By Spiffybrownboy (Spiffybrownboy) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 02:32 pm: Edit
Accepted:
Pitt
Rutgers
Wisconsin-Madison
Johns Hopkins (ED)
Deferred:
Chicago
Pending:
UMich --- Not that it matters, but they take forever! I applied back in November. Damn them for being so popular.
By Chen (Chen) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 02:40 pm: Edit
If you were accepted ED somehwere, it is your obligation to withdraw your apps everywhere else. Strange that Chicago deferred you but JHU accepted you!
Applied to 8. Haven't heard from any yet either.
By Spiffybrownboy (Spiffybrownboy) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 03:11 pm: Edit
I already said no to Rutgers/Pitt/Wisconsin. I didn't want to waste the postage on Michigan because I figured the decision is coming any day now anyways, so might as well check "no" if I am accepted. I guess that isn't the case now, as Michigan has had no contact with me in almost 2 months.
About Chicago... I don't think it's strange... a lot of people think it's strange but they dont realize Chicago is just as good as JHU academically and is also very prestigious (just not here in NJ to the general public). Chicago's admissions process is very untraditional... people with amazing stats were deferred... so who knows. Good luck to everyone out there
.
By Chen (Chen) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 03:19 pm: Edit
Oh yeah, good point about Chicago's admissions process being different.

Waiting for 6 (HYP, Boston University, Tufts, Brandeis) and already accepted to Rutgers.
By Sweetie49 (Sweetie49) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 08:05 pm: Edit
I have a question...lol. Why is is that people who can apply after me have already gotten their decisions, and I haven't heard anything? Has anyone else had this happen?
By Tragicromantic (Tragicromantic) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 - 11:58 pm: Edit
i had that happen too, Sweetie49. with William Paterson University ((little known NJ state school...GREAT teaching school tho..i'm doing polisci//sec.edu))...i wouldn't worry about it though, because i know i'm going to get in there ((they basically told me unofficially already))...i don't think it has anything to do with who mailed it out first. keep your hopes up... =)
anyways, i applied to 3 so far...
Rutgers - Accepted
William Paterson - Pending
Fordham - Pending

Sweetie49
If you know someone that has applied after you but got their acceptance letter first, that's most likely because their AIN number is high enough for them to be attomatically accepted at the university. Hope that helps!
By Spiffybrownboy (Spiffybrownboy) on Sunday, January 25, 2004 - 05:39 pm: Edit
Eh... that happened to me. My friend got into Rutgers a couple weeks before I did and he applied after me. This had nothing to do with AIN number or anything. I called Rutgers a little after he and others got in and asked if they had received my transcript (because the website said they didn't). They said for me to wait till the website was updated. I insisted that they check, and lo and behold, they found it and updated it within one day. They sent me an acceptance a couple days after that. Colleges can get very disorganized, so you have to push for what you want. If I had not called, Rutgers would probably still be pending for me.
By Sweetie49 (Sweetie49) on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 08:36 am: Edit
I've already called twice, and both times they told me to wait for a couple of weeks. I'm just so confused as to why mine would be taking longer. Thanks you guys!
By Acennace (Acennace) on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 08:57 am: Edit
Waiting for 6... LOLZ
By Spiffybrownboy (Spiffybrownboy) on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 06:00 pm: Edit
Call again. Colleges are annoying, they'll say things but never really follow through with them. If you waited a couple weeks and heard nothing, call again and don't yell (since that won't do any good for anyone), but explain to them that you know people who have been accepted and are wondering why your notification is taking so long. Keep pushing, that's all I can tell you. Make sure they've received everything you've sent them (if they say they THINK so or they don't know, make them get up and look). Also, ask if they know anything about your status as you might have been admitted/deferred/rejected and just have not received notification because of some problem.
By Krause (Krause) on Monday, January 26, 2004 - 07:39 pm: Edit
I applied to only 1 college (UIUC Institute of Aviation). My online application status was "Decision: Pending - Special Requirement" for about 2 months then I received a Statement of Professional Interest to fill out and now its changed to "Decision: Admit - College Reviewed". It'll probably stay that way for 2 months before I get anything in the mail again...
By Sweetie49 (Sweetie49) on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 - 04:01 pm: Edit
I called last week about it, and they said to wait and that my application was in the final stages of the process. But if I were going to to be rejected, do you think I would have heard by now? They've had my application for 2 months now. I don't know, lol I'm going insane. Thanks!!
By Fiza (Fiza) on Tuesday, January 27, 2004 - 06:05 pm: Edit
I didnt. I think MWC (safety) lets some ppl know early February. I'm still pretty nervous about that too.
By Jae (Jae) on Saturday, January 31, 2004 - 10:38 am: Edit
Sweetie49- Here's the way I see it. I think most colleges have just finished with sending out ED acceptance letters, so they've just started working on RD applications. I received one out-of-state acceptance, but yet waiting on 2 others, so it's tough to say how each admissions operates. I've also received 2 in-state acceptances, but waiting on my 1st in-state choice. Just remember the saying "No news is good news" and try to relax.
By Wo4567 (Wo4567) on Saturday, January 31, 2004 - 11:17 am: Edit
accepted to one (Ithaca Presidential Scholar) and waiting on Dartmouth, Harvard, BU, Brown, Colgate, Vassar, William and Mary, Caltech...
By Northstarmom (Northstarmom) on Saturday, January 31, 2004 - 12:22 pm: Edit
USNA,
I don't think that Spelman has a lot of financial aid money. If you've got good stats, though, Howard and Florida A&M have a lot of merit aid for top black students.I think you need socres of about 1200 or higher.
By Winterfresh (Winterfresh) on Saturday, January 31, 2004 - 02:59 pm: Edit
Catawba said I would get a decision in a week. It's already been 2 1/2 weeks already. Man, what's up with that?
USNA, if you choose to apply to Howard, you'll be making a great choice. It's such a good school. I wish I could've considered it more and applied to it.
By Lindz0722 (Lindz0722) on Tuesday, February 17, 2004 - 04:58 pm: Edit
i just heard today from TCNJ (the college of new jersey)!! my 2nd choice school, so i'm happy (plus i got money).
1 acceptance down ... 5 to go. i wish they all would send them this early!!
