I have IB at my school and am planning to get the diploma. Is that better than taking all APs?

IBs get awarded college credit too by most colleges so I think it's ok

it is better because, in part, far fewer schools offer IB diplomas than ap classes, making these applicants rarer (and thus more attractive) than ap-applicants
take the hardest courseload in your school. if it doesn't offer IB, they can't hold that against you in any way, but if you have the choice, go for IB

Well, "IB diploma better than taking all APs?"
Certainly not, if you are gonna take all those AP exams (23 subjects in total I reckon).
If you took all those 23 AP exams and got straight 5s, i'm sure it look more impressive than an IB diploma.

I was told by my HS, which only offered AP, that IB looks better to schools and is more prestigious.

Sungwoo:
Even though you didn't get the full IB diploma, you still get 5 certificates...essentially 5 AP classes. Colleges still love it.

I have a strong aversion to IB program.
Unlike College Board which is committed to giving every one equal access and equal opportunity, IB program only allow students in IB schools to participate.
Less prestigious and poor schools like mine can not participate in that IB program.
AP program is totally different in this respect. They give equal opportunity to everyone who wants to excel. Students from non-AP schools and Homeschooled students can all participate in AP program.
Even if IB weighs than AP, I and thousands of other disadvantaged kids simply can not participate in it.
I hope college look at IB and AP equally. IB is simply unfair for everyone. I will be very disappointed if colleges "recognize IB over AP".

Quit bizatching about IB, Amylase! You're ragging on something you prolly don't even know much about. I'm an Ib Diploma candidate, and the program is not just for elite schools, or for rich kids. I'm from a poor area, with mostly minority students...we're all 95% hispanic, and we have IB here. It's available to a school who wants the program. So if one of your teachers, or you went to someone at the top, I'm sure you could get IB at your school. There's also financial assistance for people who can't pay for their exams.
