I just realized that on my resume that I made out for my colleges, I wrote "National Honor Roll" instead of "National Honor Society". I have absolutely not the smallest idea in the world WHAT THE HECK possesed me to do so, but I have thankfully only sent it to one school, but it is the one school that i really want to go to and get a scholarship for so that should i do?????!!!!

You'll probably be rejected. Schools hate to see mistakes like that.
By the way, f-o-r-g-e-t about the scholarship.

No big deal... send a nice note explaining, and no worries

on that note, How bad is a spelling mistake on an application, if it is in the non-essay section. I made a spelling mistake on my UC app and am applying to Berkeley. Will this really hurt.

dont worry, just send in a letter to explain
hey, question, the app asked for me external exams, i dont know what i was thinking but i put my schools marks down, lol, do i need to send in an explaination or would they just laugh it off?

I made a similar mistake on the common app, put that I had my job up until January of '03 instead of '04. Anyway, would just calling the Admissions offices of the schools be OK, rather than wrtiting a letter?

There actually is a National Honor Roll. It's like the Whos' Who thing. Here's the website for NHR: http://www.deca.org/nab/nationalhonorroll.htm
I'm in both. The college will probably think that this is what you mean so don't worry. The only downside is that your app doesn't say that you are in NHS. No biggie.

HAHAHA marinakitchen. I admire your candor.

By the way, on topic, calling the schools also works for correcting a mistake, although the three colleges i called all had different procedures. Wake Forest changed it right when i called, Vandy wanted me to email an admissions officer, and Emory said to send a correction letter with my supplement. So calling might be a faster way to get things sorted out...

I noticed after I'd sent in an online app that I had a typo in my EC leadership listing. (Trasurer = Treasurer). I must have missed it the first four times I checked through my app, although I did spell it right later in the application. Is a typo going to hurt at all?

National Honor Roll is a SCAM...It has no legitimacy whatsoever. It's in the same category as Who's Who...

there's actually a nice simpsons ep about a national honor roll thing...a book is printed with every kid in the country's name in it...including bart and lisa of course. so marge wants to buy two copies of the 50 dolla book...anyways
NHS means little. At most schools it's basically a joke. Also, I'd say 19 out of 20 applicants to top schools have it on their resume. As such, it's not something special, so it won't be dearly missed. YOU'RE FINE

Greetings all: National Honor Roll is a vanity press. You send them money; they print junk in their "commemorative yearbook." Doesn't mean a thing. Please see my posting at http://www.collegeconfidential.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?6/35760 Hope this helps.
