I have a 4.18 GPA, AP classes, and I am ranked in the top 2% of my class.
I just took that SAT and I wasn't really happy with my results. I got a 550 Verbal and a 620 Math for an 1170 composite. The average at The School of Engineering at Purdue is 680M and 610V (1290 total).
Even though I plan on testing again (and hopefully improving) I was wondering what my chances are at The School of Engineering at Purdue with my low test scores.

Are you in-state or out-of-state, Matthew?
I'm no expert, but to me there looks like a major disconnect between your test scores and your other academic accomplishments. I'd definitely keep working practice tests, and perhaps get some coaching.

I am from out of state (Ohio). I also see the disconnection between my scores and my grades. I don't really know what to say about that. My school is very competitive and I have to work very hard for my grades.
I have been studying my vocab and the format of the SAT to hopefully boost my score. I had a friend who first scored an 1190 and raised his grade to a 1470 in 3 tries. Hopfully I will havesimilar luck.
I also plan on taking a princeton review course. I have been studying online (@ www.number2.com) and out of several books. (princeton review and barons)

I think you are on the right track, Matthew. As an out of state applicant, you'll be held to higher standards. I bet you can bring up that SAT quite a bit, though! Good luck!
