Do the local alumni committee notify us or do we have to contact them? If they contact us, when would they normally do it? and is it by phone or by email?
Thanks for any info

The alum is usually assigned to regular decision candidates in early January - so you should expect a call or an email from the alum starting now until the beginning of February. The alumni interview forms are due into the admissions office by February 15th (although interviewers are given a week or two leeway for forms that are sent to them late). It depends when you sent in the first part of your application when you should expect to hear from the interviewer. This is because the interviewer forms are generated by the admissions office as soon as the Part One form is received. So if you applied really late - like Jan 1st - your alumni interviewer form will be generated very late - and thus you will be one of the later students to be assigned. But you will be offered an interview if your form is in on time - and if you don't hear from an interviewer by the end of January, then either call the person in your area who is in charge of assigning the interviews or call the admissions office (212-898-1886) or email them to find out who to call. This is true of every school that offers alum interviews - don't wait until it is too late - make sure you call if you haven't heard from someone by the end of January.
