I think you have decent chances. I haven't seen Chicago statistics but a friend of mine who was *very* qualified was rejected outright EA (it sucks so much... it was his top choice school like his whole life and he deserved to get in, or at least get deferred for goodness sake). This leads me to believe they reject a fair amount of EA, giving defers a decent shot.

I'm of a more ruthless outlook: figure It's Over.
If you're happily surprised, so be it.

But the figures for a school like Chicago that I've seen are generally less than 10 percent admitted off the Deferred list. For schools like Yale this year, I'm betting around 5 percent.

there are no set figures, but generally your deferred chances are as good as RD chances. good luck. im a Pton ED deferral. im treating it as a rejection though. :)

I agree with Tdad

According to the AIFA Dartmouth book, the Dartmouth deferrals get in at about the normal rate or a little less. At the top schools, your odds are one in ten or so. [se think] If you ARE one in ten in a standout way in the deferred pool, well, you'll get in. As we see on this board, while possible, it is not the way to bet. You are surrounded by equally qualified candidates.
