I've taken the SATI for the last time b/c I'm taking the SATIIs January. However, the ACT last testing day in Feb 04. Should I go for it?

I have a 1230 composite for the SAT I.
Colleges I want to attend: Wake, Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth, Columbia.

If it's only 1230 and those are your college choices, then yes, do go for the ACT.

1230 does you no good in the ivys

I've been told that 20% do better on SAT, 20% do better on ACT, but it's not the same group. So yes, I'd go for it if I were you. I think WF is a stretch with those scores, Ivys impossible unless you other 'highly unusual' qualifiers.

SAT scores are not the whole application. I know a kid with a 1260 who got into Yale Early, nevertheless he had stellar recs, ec's, and an essay, but he still got in.

Definitely take the ACT. I'd also suggest you get some saftey schools.

sat test your logical/critical skills while act test what you've learned already. if you are a very good student in school (that doesn't correlate with your sat) then you'll probably do better on the act. i hope you have match and safety schools, list your stats and people on this board would love to help you find some

ya, go for it. my brother got an 1180 on the SAT, but a 29 on the ACT, which is considerably more impressive.

Take the ACT...In my opinion its a hell of alot better than the SAT... I got a 1200 on my SAT and on my ACT I got a 29 which translates to a 1300 according to college board website...

yea ACTs are easier in my opinion. i got a 1460 on the SAT and a 34 on the ACT which translates to 1520-1550.
