I applied early decision to smith and am apprehensively awaiting december 15. Does anyone know if these results are by mail, by email, or by both?

and is there a chance it will come earlier or later than december 15?

They always notify by email.
I heard that they're mailing them out this Friday.

They are mailing out letters on Friday.
Emails should be on Friday as well.

Good_Gal, did you get in off the wait list last year? Or is my memory completely wonky?

I didn't get off it. Applied for spring 2004 transfer.

Ah. Good luck with that. I'd thought of you several times. Where did you wind up?

I'm at the University of Rochester.

Ah. I don't know anything about it. But again, good luck. I'm pulling for you. Let me know how it turns out.

They email decisions? I didn't know that. I'm applying ED too. But I'd assume that they would email on Monday as opposed to Friday. (As in tomorrow.) I guess I'll keep my eyes open, though.

In case anyone's interested - Smith mailed acceptance letters this morning. There are no emails sent out for early decision. So, that means we all have to wait for the mail. *shrugs* I'm only one state away, so I'm hoping I can get mine soon...

Thanks. I don't know anyone applying ED but it still would be nice to vicariously experience the joy and get a sense of the profile of admittees.

Thedad, one of both my daughters' good friends applied ED to Smith but she is spending this semester in Ireland. I do not have numbers type stats on her but she is taking the most challenging classes, is a very good student and excels at singing and in the school musicals. She also holds a job. She likely has a strong chance. If I hear, I will let you know. Plus I know several girls from our school who have gotten into Smith in the last few years and attend there. Actually come to think of it, several of them were active in performing arts. (and then your D and my D are too~)

Dear Good Gal,

Best wishes with your transfer application to Smith. I am the parent of a second-year student there; she is very happy with her choice.

Meanwhile, I am curious about your experiences at University of Rochester. It has an excellent academic reputation in the New York/Northeast area Apparently it is becoming more nationally known and is, I understand, one of the "underappreciated Ivy backups." What did you not find at Rochester that you are hoping to find at Smith?

I have no doubt that these two schools have significant differences, but since I have not visited Rochester, only know it by reputation, I am curious - mainly because I am looking ahead for a 14-year-old son who will not be able to consider Smith!

Thanks for any input you care to provide!

D accepted by Smith ED.

She is thrilled! (and so are we). Smith was a bit of a reach for her, but she put together a wonderful application. Essay, recs and a strong theme in every aspect of the application did it!

They are so lucky to have her!
