yup i got into Rutgers a couple of days ago, too. It feels good to get into that first school, even if it's a backup.

SAT 1540
GPA 3.9
Rank 7/335
ECs, the usual overacheiving asian stuff, plus some research.

By Mafmaf22 (Mafmaf22) on Saturday, December 06, 2003 - 10:47 pm: Edit

smartncute are you from NJ, b.c if so you must of gotten a lot of money. Was the deadline for apps on Dec. 1 because iwas so lazy that i filled everything out but the essay and just didn't send it in. probably would have gotten lots of money being from NJ, but fortunately i got into another safety school instead (UWisc-Madison). By the way congrats to all of you on getting into Rutgers.

By Flyguy (Flyguy) on Saturday, December 06, 2003 - 11:56 pm: Edit

Rutgers will be 10x more popular once they merge with NJ Institute of Technology and NJ School of Medicine to become the much anticipated...

UNIVERSITY OF NEW JERSEY! (so enticing huh lol)

Whoever came up with the stupid name of Rutgers anyway? lol

By Collegeprospect (Collegeprospect) on Sunday, December 07, 2003 - 12:58 am: Edit

Flyguy, is that really going to happen?

By Flyguy (Flyguy) on Sunday, December 07, 2003 - 01:15 am: Edit

it's in the process of being done... here's a link

Mafmaf22
yup yup i gotta full ride.
It's pretty enticing thinking of how much mula i'll save.

By Smartncute03 (Smartncute03) on Monday, December 08, 2003 - 07:29 pm: Edit

and the deadline for priority admission is Dec first, but if you submit it after that you can still get money, but Rutgers does not guarantee that you'll get the amount you're entitled to if you had submitted it before the deadline.

Yep, my son also got admitted/free ride to Rutgers officially today also. He was so blase about it, but I was doing a happy dance myself. As he's a science major, I think he should consider it. Rutgers has a wonderful science program, and it will only become stronger if that merge actually does happen, but of course he has his eyes on Yale, Dartmouth, Amherst, Brown, Tufts, Middlebury...

Mafmaff22--UW--wise choice over Rutgers.

By Spiffybrownboy (Spiffybrownboy) on Monday, December 08, 2003 - 09:49 pm: Edit

I submitted my app in November and haven't heard anything. Some people I know applied after me and got in! WTF! Blah... I'm not in anywhere yet... well, I'm sorta already into Oberlin so that's good, but that wasn't even a safety. Come on Rutgers, hurry up!

I don't think stats matter much as long as you have like a 1100 or 1150 in-state, but since everyone is listing it:

in-state
SAT 1380
ACT 28 (bahhh! they'll take the SAT over it)
class rank 13/277
quite a few ec's, national recognition in 2 major ec's... more like passions.

It would be funny if they rejected me. I always worry, even with my safeties.

By Cooljay687 (Cooljay687) on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 12:44 am: Edit

what national recognition did u get spiffy for the 2 ec's-- sounds nice

By Cdz12250 (Cdz12250) on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 08:49 am: Edit

"Colonel Henry Rutgers was among the most prominent laymen in the Dutch Church, president of its Board of Corporation, and a church elder. Descended from an old New York Dutch family, he possessed valuable land holdings in New York. The Colonel graduated from King's College (now Columbia), was a Revolutionary war veteran, and held various posts of civic importance in New York. A bachelor, he later donated the interest on a $5,000 bond and the central college bell which still hangs in the Old Queens building."

Good luck to all of you. You're going to get a top-drawer education for what is, comparatively peanuts, and have a lot of fun.

some questions about rutgers

1.Is it good in engineering??
2.Hows the overall location??
3.Does it have asians?..indians to be specific
4.Party school???

By Takingiteasy (Takingiteasy) on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 09:11 pm: Edit

Wow, I regret not applying now. I had a better chance getting in this school than i thought. Not to take away from all of u guys, but I thought Rutgers was one of the extremely competive schools like UCLA. But congratulations to all of u guys.

By Flyguy (Flyguy) on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 09:44 pm: Edit

I heard Rutgers is also known as STD University

By Spiffybrownboy (Spiffybrownboy) on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 - 10:01 pm: Edit

Takingiteasy, Rutgers is not nearly as competitive as UCLA... probably only as competitive as the lowest UC's. However, it is a good school (ranked 60th, even that means anything to anyone). In just has a bad in-state reputation... well, people from my school dread it anyways.

Cooljay, the national recognition I got for one of my ec's isn't like WOAH but it's still consider national recognition. It was the National Foundation for the Arts Honorable Mention Award in Dance (about 15 finalists are chosen in dance nationwide, so that's just about impossible to make... so I think I was like one of the 25-30 in the country for the honorable mention... and you get a 100 dollars and an award certificate... spending money for college! hahaha). The other national recognition is a bit more impressive. It's for the ACDA National Honor Choir of Men and Boys (every two years there is a national choir and I think top 20% of applicants nationwide are chosen). Not anything jaw-dropping but I'm milking it for all it's worth haha. Anyone else have some interesting awards/EC's?

I got accepted into Rutgers right before Christmas Eve, so happy getting my first acceptance.
Out of state
New Yorker
applied before the priority deadline
got into 2+4 joint program for pharmacy
first two years at Camden-College of Art and Science,TRANSFER TO Ernest mario school of pharmacy AT THE THIRD YEAR.I also got into Newark College of Art and Science, but didn't get into 2+4 program in Newark. Most likely, I'll enroll at Camden's 2+4 PHARMACY PROGRAM.BY THE WAY, I DIDN'T GET INTO ERNEST MARIO SCHOOL OF PHARMACY, IT'S SO HARD, 2+4 PHARMACY PROGRAM AT CAMDEN IT'S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME, JUST WANTED TO GET INTO ANY OF THE PHARMACY PROGRAM AT RUTGERS.
SAT:1160(VERBAL 480, MATH 680)
GPA:90.8 W
RANK:62/265(TOP QUARTER)
GOOD ECS AND GOOD ESSAY
FEELING LUCKY AND HAPPY TO GET IN
BY THE WAY, ANYONE FAMILIAR WITH 2+4 PHARMACY PROGRAM IN DETAILS, SUCH AS HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ADMITTED INTO THE PROGRAM, HOW MANY ENROLLED, THE APPROXIMATE NUMBER OF PEOPLE OR APPROXIMATE PERCENTAGE OF PEOPLE CAN BE SUCCESSFULLY TRANSFERRED AT THE END OF THE SECOND YEAR(MUST HAVE A MINIMUM GPA OF 2.3)?
