I submitted my UC app not too long ago... and because the server was sooo slow I didn't really give a second thought. In the essays section there is a fourth section to clarify technical details. I'm out of state, so my chances are pretty slim to get in, and yet my dad lives in California (parents divorced) but I didn't mention this. Is it trivial, or might I have hurt my chances more?

I applied to Berkeley and UCLA.
*knocks head against the wall*... crap.

are you sure you're considered out of state?
my friend's dad who lived in va while she and her mom lived in md got instate status for uva and got in.

just a thought. i do think it's important. i would write a letter or email

I would call/email the UCOP Processing Center right? Would it only matter if I was my father claimed me as a tax dependent? Because I think in that case, I MIGHT get in-state status. However, if my mother claimed me as a tax dependent, would it even matter at all?

i know how u feel, i was till 4 last night cause the server took about 5 minutes to load every page (i have dsl too!). by the time i finished i just wanted to submit it cause i was so sick of staring at the dam computer screen. anyway, i also left something out of the application, so if anyone would like to help me out please scroll down to check out my post under college admissions.

Yeah, you should probably write to them: separately - one to Berkeley, one to LA and tell them that. In state will not only cost you less, it'll probably greatly increase your chances of getting in.

how much could it increase ones chances?

right... but this might be a good time to be an out of state student now because of the budget cuts. i'm not worried about the out of state tuition, i know i will be exempt from it if i am admitted (i already checked). the only difference this will make is if they treat me as an in-state or out-of-state student during admissions. anyone know exactly what they're going to with out-of-state students to make up for the budget cuts?
