I can't say I really had a job..I mean, that paid..I did tutor some kids but I don't think that counts??

the thing is, my parents have always DISCOURAGED me from getting a job in the summer or anything coz they thought I was young and shoudl spend my time doing other stuff...ga..I mean tha'ts no excuse but when I see all the 'work experience' blanks..

is it really important?? is there any other way I can "make up" for it? like emphasize on the loooads of voluntary work I did? (but obvoiusly never got paid for)

As long as you did volunteer work and school EC's it won't matter.

Real work looks better than volunteer work.. shows the student can step out of the comfort zone by taking on real resonpsibilities that are dependant upon their pay
