what are some of your 'hooks'? What really qualifies as a 'hook'? Examples? thx!

Don't know if it's really a "hook," but I won a grant (from MIT-hosted Mass. State Science Fair)for a field study in Costa Rica last summer. It doesn't necessarily set me apart from other people personality-wise but it's made a pretty good essay topic ;)

I hear it is a really good hook if you are a rehabillitated herion addict... supposenly it shows great strength and is very unique

yes i recommend that you become addicted to some hard drug (crack, heroine, ect..) and then miraculosy lose the addiction in time for college. Makes for a great story
