I won a public service award. Where would I put that on my common app?

put the activity under extracurriculars, as if it was track or something. Then put the award in the extra space where you would put "captain" if you were captain of the track team.

well its like from work...i got a scholarship for my devotion to public service from teh senate president. it has nothing to do with school

"extracurricular activities" are not restricted to school activities. If you played a sport thru a city-league, or participated in a city-wide orchestra, or took dance classes 20 hours a weeks, or volunteered on you own at a food bank - none of that is school but it would all be "extracurricular activities".
What "senate president"? Do you mean the United States Senate? Anyway, post the service that led to this award under "extracur."

i posted that under work experience. it was an internship
