I was just wondering, can i write a recommendation to a college for a friend? Just writing about her exceptional personal qualities in general. Like if I sent it in without her knowing I wrote one, and it wouldn't count as one of her recs then, so its just as a little extra for the adcom. too weird? I mean i wouldn't really consider it for other people i am friends with, but this one especially.

Why would your friend need another rec from a different friend? What could you convey in a letter that hasn't already been said? I think it's a bit weird writing a letter for a friend.

My friend, who is 26-years-old, is a former alumni at JHU and she is writing a rec for me there. Don't know if that will help...but I do know her well.

several colleges have "peer recommendations" now, so it might be good...what school?
