suppose i am deferred/rejected by the school i applied to early decision. could i apply ed II to another school?

Yes. That's the purpose of ED II. They're looking to catch the students whose first choice ED didn't give them a favorable response.

Smith has an ED II...either 1/1 or 1/15...I think it's 1/15 but I'm too lazy to check for sure right now.

I don't get it. Why would you even bother applying ED II?

Makes sense if you don't get a good read from your ED I choice and then want to have higher chances for your #2 choice and don't mind not being able to compare financial aid offers. You'll notice that a lot of the schools offering ED II are schools that might be attractive to someone who figures that HYPSM is a long shot if they get deferred/rejected from EA/ED I.

so is edII easier to get into a school? i'm assuming that the app pool is weaker because a lot of people who didn't get good news from their ed schools apply.
