Is anyone applying to USC or NYU. If so, what are your stats, what school are you applying to, and what essay are you doing?
By Bmurry (Bmurry) on Thursday, November 06, 2003 - 10:21 pm: Edit
Both but strongly prefer USC
Highlights
1480 (750M 730V)
Mid 700's SAT II's
National Merit Semi
Swim Team Captain
10AP's
3.2ish uw and 3.8ish w
More EC's and awards
I don't know which essay's yet.
In general I think I am a fine applicant but GPA is my Achilles heel

Both- strongly prefer whichever one accepts me
1390 SAT
Did not take SAT2's (not required are they?)
Varsity letter in Track & Cross Country
4 AP's
3.93 UW GPA
Boys' State, NHS, Treasurer of a club, and a few other minor ECs/Awards... Do I have a shot at either? I was planning on applying to NYU-stern but now realize that I have no shot of getting in so I may apply to CAS...Not sure what my major will be yet...
Other colleges I'm considering
Naval Academy
University of Washington
Boston University
University of Michigan
Do I have a shot at any of these schools?

NYU's Gallatin.
750V/650M
3.6 unweighted, no rank at competitive girls' school
Hardest humanities classes, respectable math/science
Edtor of newspaper, pres of students for Justice
Trust me, the people on this board aren't representative of the average NYU applicant.

Last year's average SAT I was 1341 so I think you all have a good chance as far as that goes. Do expect the average to go up though. The GPA was high. I can't remember exactly. Why don't you search on the USC website for information on the class of 2007?
Make sure that you let USC know of your interest. Go to their recruiting sessions if they have one near you, and try to visit them on campus. Cultivate the admissions officer responsible for your part of the country.

Crumbledsugar,
What is the average applicant like? What kind of people would you say we're up against in the admissions pool?
By Jadesark (Jadesark) on Sunday, November 16, 2003 - 11:50 pm: Edit
oh man, if this is what the average NYU applicant is like, I'm screwed.
By Bmurry (Bmurry) on Monday, November 17, 2003 - 12:23 pm: Edit
I don't think this board correctly reflects the average applicant.
