I did the SAT in one sitting and got 780 for Maths and 730 for Verbal.
It's quite high for me ^^, but I am afraid it would not be sufficient for HYSPM....
Of course the SATs isn't EVERYTHING but a 1560 would look better than a 1510 right?
I need all the advantages I can get, I am an intl student.^^

I wouldn't. The difference isn't all that much. I think once you are over 1500 they look at everything else. A 50 point increase isn't going to increase your chances at all at that level.

Then why do so many search for that elusive 1600...?

I know that schools categorize SAT's into different levels. If you have 1360-1600 its basically the same thing. So deciding factors are not going to be on SAT's if you are in that category, it will be on EC's, Essays, Etc.

Seriously, I had my MIT interview and the guy said that once you get past a certain point (approx 1450) it REALLY isn't that much of a difference. After that, they look towards the other parts of your app because you are officially "in the mix." Don't take my word for it, but I really don't think it would help that much. (Oh, and he said grades, AP scores, and SAT II's are all more important than the SAT I)

that sounds more reasonable...
