I just got back from my Georgetown interview. When I mentioned that I had a second cousin that graduated from G-town and currently worked as an associate director of student programs, my interviewer told me I'd be stupid not to have him (my cousin) write me a letter of rec.
But I don't really know this guy that well. He's my second cousin, but we've only met once or twice. Plus, would it really carry that much weight if he only were repeating my accomplishments and EC's (that's just about all he could do)

Well, "A is for Admissions" by Michelle Hernandez (of Dartmouth) says you look silly and insecure if you have letters sent that do not add to your candidacy, such as letters from famous people, etc. That probably applies here, too.
