Hey!
Are any of you competing in the William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition this year? I'm assuming it looks outstanding on college apps, as it is the most prestigious math competition in the country. I am hoping to be a mathematics/astrophysics major (possibly psychology???) and since I already have a lot of math behind me, I was figuring that I might be able to just skip the competition freshman year in college and trade that year of eligibility for this year. If any of you are competing, or just like mathematics in general, please post here! Something like a Mathematicians Anonymous group, if you please, though I don't insist on being anonymous, lol. Which math course are you taking, etc? Do you think the Putman would help you gain admission to a good university? Please, give me your opinions. :-) Thanks!

"I'm assuming it looks outstanding on college apps"
Especially considering the fact that it's only open to college students...

Ummm.....you're wrong. It's open to highschoolers as well. Highschoolers who are in college math courses, at least. I'd suggest you check out their website if you're going to have that attitude about it.
