What grades do colleges see on your application from senior year. If its ED is it just the first quarter? If its regular desicion is it the entire first semester?

I think you're right - for ED (first quarter) and for regular (first semester).

However, BEWARE! Although they might not see all of your senior grades on an ED or regular decision application, most colleges do check on your entire senior year results even after they have admitted you.

There was a lawsuit filed just recently in NC by an already admitted UNC-CH freshman with a 1600 SAT and a 3.6 (I think) GPA whose grades dropped significantly senior year. UNC-CH rescinded his admission, and he is taking them to court - very unsuccessfully so far. I think he failed a course and made a couple of Ds, therefore lowering his GPA to a 3.2 or something in that area.

How in the world is that case holding any water to begin with? Most of the colleges I know of have a very distinct disclaimer both in their application and admittance letters that their offer is contingent entirely upon your continuing more or less in the same vein they admitted you upon -- IE, keep your grades up or you're out.

The case is not holding any water at all. I think the student is just really in disbelief that the school would actually hold him accountable for his second semester grades. I honestly think he thought that his 1600 SAT score would overshadow the drop in grades. There is no way that he will win his case; the judge already banned him from first semester attendance.

I just wanted to remind everyone of the importance of not slacking off during your senior year.

Do colleges look at my grades of community college classes that will end the semester in December?
I'm applying to UCs and some other colleges...

Well, I think it depends on your school/counselor's policy. At a meeting recently, my guidance cousleor said that he would send semester grades to every college we apply to but no 1st quarter grades (which is ends soon enough, I'm guessing, for colleges to see them) unless the college requests it. I'm sure you could ask your counselor personally. That would be your best bet to make sure they get the grades.

I don't think they can see your grades? Maybe you'd have to show your counselor the grades so he can attach them personally.

do you think state schools check on grades senior year at all?

Oops, my second paragraph refers to the community college question.
