im looking to be a doctor and i want to pick a school that has a strong undergraduate program in biochemistry so i can do well in the pre-med studies and score high on the MCAT. id like to stay in california but im willing to go out of state. any recommendations for public, 4 year unversities would be much appreciated.

Check out the small liberal arts colleges.

I believe NESCAC schools mainly have strong bio departments. Williams in particular has an excellent program (and one of the highest med-school acceptance rates and placements in the world).

I'm sure one of the Claremont schools has a good bio program.
