Brown mailed me their Early admissions application yesterday is this really a big deal? ive never contacted the school i dont know why they would send me an application. this must be a joke...i mean c'mon my gpa is a 3.8 weighted and i have an 1110 sat. My brother thinks its because they want me but i beg to differ. I just think they send these out to everybody right? I hope they aren't intrested in me just to fill in their minority quotas.

Well, it is nice to hear you got an app. My daughter IS applying and wrote a personal letter to admissions asking for the app, as well as did the visit there last Nov. and still has not received an app. Did alot of people get them this week?

i got my brown app friday i think. i've never contacted the school either or asked for one...not applying. but i get a lot of applications that are random from schools i've never heard of.

i've noticed a large difference in times people receive apps. yours should be coming soon. hang in there for a week or so more and it should be in your mailbox.

If you are URM, you could be getting it for that reason. This guy from my school was sent stuff from Harvard because he is Argentinian. He had decent scores and grades but nothing up to par with Harvard applicants. He got rejected though, so just because they send you stuff doesn't mean they "want" you. They could very well be interested primarily in your ethnicity.

Stanford sent me an application It was in a nice big packet with other info about the college. Also I don't need it because I'm a junior. I thouht it was cool that they sent it to me. I figure they sent it to me because i took a tour there a year ago. Also a I am a white male.

I'm not a URM, but I got an application too, and trust me, I'm probably not within their pool of people they would accept. So... they may just try to get people to apply so they can have a lower admit rate.

It's good, but it doesn't mean they'll accept you. I got applications from all the Ivies, and only accepted to one.

I have heard that some of these Ivies do stuff like this(mass mailing of apps) just to get their acceptance rate lower than their counterparts. So just be wary. If you think you have no chance at these schools ask your counselour or somebody before you waste precious time+money on an application.
