How long should the "Why I want to go to College XYZ" essay be?
Also, what about if the school doesnt put a word limit on the personal statement?

Usually, essays are around 500-600 words.

Yes, but I thought the essays like "Why do you want to go to our college" and the "What do you want to study" type essays were shorter (they leave a lot less space on the app)
